Iran begins production of cruise missiles

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran announced Sunday that it has started a new production line of highly accurate, short range cruise missiles, which would add a new element to the country's already imposing arsenal.

Gen. Ahmad Vahidi told Iranian state TV that the cruise missile, called Nasr 1, would be capable of destroying targets up to 3,000 tons in size.

The minister said the missile can be fired from ground-based launchers as well as ships, but would eventually be modified to be fired from helicopters and submarines.

Full Story

Looks like they are developing a delivery system for the nukes they claim they are not trying to build.

clears throat.

I do believe I posted that 1/2 the population is going to die from nukes.

DC, NYC, Chicago, Miami will all be nuked- once we/Israel  nuke Iran.

China and Russia will see to it our actions are checked.

I think Iran should be ignored. I don't expect them to be stupid enough to use nuclear weapons and if they did there is no doubt in my mind countries in the region as well as the United States, the Europeans, Russians, and China will join together to punish Iran with a reciprocal attack and economic sanctions - of course this means regime change as well.

It would make more sense that they were primarily for self defense.
I have noticed that the U.S. has never tried a "regieme change" against a nation armed with nukes.
You did notice that the U.S. has not invaded Cuba since she got nukes.

I wasn't aware that Cuba had nukes...wasn't preventing just that what the whole missile crisis was about?

Yes, ignore a country whose leader has publicly stated on numerous occasions that he would like to see a nearby country removed from the face of the earth.  You really need to change your username to something a little more appropriate.

I was at Gitmo during the "missile crisis".
The "crisis" was about the ICBM that were in Cuba.
They had three live ones and all three were targeted. If I remember correctly they were targeted on Washington DC,Baltimore and I believe the third target was Philly.
The solution was that we took our ICBMs out of Turkey...quid pro quo Russia took her ICBMs out of Cuba.
The Russians did not reposses the tactical nukes that they had supplied.
Thus our reticence to attack.

Stef:
The president of Iran was on 60 minutes. His response to Mike Wallace's questions were somewhat different than what our press has said he said.
Essentially his position was that the Jews were a problem born of the conflict in Europe durring WW II. His position was that it was a European problem and not an Arab problem and that the Jews should be given a homeland in Europe and not carve one out of the Arab nations.
He was pretty clear that he did not want to murder anyone but that those who had been responsible for the Jews being in Israel should have put them someplace in Europe.
The question is now do we believe what the man actually said or what his enemies say he said.

It would do the west well to cast Israel adrift, let them annoy who they like and receive what happens. What happens between warring countries should be no concern of others, particularly the US, for they are not the worlds's police force, they leave what happens alone, they can later pick up the bits left over and be what they want to be then. But I have to ask, why is there such an interest in Israel in the US ?

Not to mention the 12th imam prophecies. It isn't just history or myth for them. Iran believes an active role will foster his return rather than a passive role. I don't think the religious leadership would hesitate in using nuclear weapons.

And therein lies the crux of the problem. There is so much misinformation. The media, mainly the American media and certain others, have done such a great deal of vilifying Middle Eastern countries that people automatically think they are all evil, Axis of Evil in fact.

I'm not saying that Iran is not dangerous. I know that they are. I also think the US and their self-appointed World Police role are just as dangerous. What was the last country to perform a mass genocide? That would be the US/UK combo mass attack and genocide of Iraq.

What's irritating to me is IRAN is the threat that IRAQ was advertised to be. Whats going on there looks pretty sinister.

Here's a little factoid about IRAN: more people per capita are killed there by means of the death penalty than anywhere else in the world.

Ahmadinejad looks like a real prune face, too.

Ironic, too, how religious fundamentalists here hate the Islamists there.....

The Zionists want to expand the land mass of Israel.

Such an expansion will take up portions of Iraq and Iran.

Israel hopes to colonize parts of Iraq as “Greater Israel”
Wayne Madsen
Online Journal
February 2, 2009 Israeli expansionists, their intentions to take full control of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and permanently keep the Golan Heights of Syria and expand into southern Lebanon already well known, also have their eyes on parts of Iraq considered part of a biblical “Greater Israel”.

Iraqi nationalists charge that the Israeli expansion into Iraq is supported by both major Kurdish factions, including the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan headed by Iraq’s nominal President Jalal Talabani.
Israel reportedly has plans to relocate thousands of Kurdish Jews from Israel, including expatriates from Kurdish Iran, to the Iraqi cities of Mosul and Nineveh under the guise of religious pilgrimages to ancient Jewish religious shrines. According to Kurdish sources, the Israelis are secretly working with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to carry out the integration of Kurdish and other Jews into areas of Iraq under control of the KRG. Kurdish, Iraqi Sunni Muslims, and Turkmen have noted that Kurdish Israelis began to buy land in Iraqi Kurdistan, after the U.S. invasion in 2003, that is considered historical Jewish “property”. The Israelis are particularly interested in the shrine of the Jewish prophet Nahum in al Qush, the prophet Jonah in Mosul, and the tomb of the prophet Daniel in Kirkuk. Israelis are also trying to claim Jewish “properties” outside of the Kurdish region, including the shrine of Ezekiel in the village of al-Kifl in Babel Province near Najaf and the tomb of Ezra in al-Uzayr in Misan Province, near Basra, both in southern Iraq’s Shia-dominated territory. Israeli expansionists consider these shrines and tombs as much a part of “Greater Israel” as Jerusalem and the West Bank, which they call “Judea and Samaria”.

  • Kurdish and Iraqi sources report that Israel’s Mossad is working hand-in-hand with Israeli companies and “tourists” to stake a claim to the Jewish “properties” of Israel in Iraq. The Mossad has already been heavily involved in training the Kurdish Pesha Merga military forces. Reportedly assisting the Israelis are foreign mercenaries paid for by U.S. Christian evangelical circles that support the concept of “Christian Zionism”. Iraqi nationalists charge that the Israeli expansion into Iraq is supported by both major Kurdish factions, including the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan headed by Iraq’s nominal President Jalal Talabani. Talabani’s son, Qubad Talabani, serves as the KRG’s representative in Washington, where he lives with his wife Sherri Gabrielle Kraham, who is Jewish. Also supporting the Israeli land acquisition activities is the Kurdistan Democratic Party, headed by Massoud Barzani, the president of the KRG. One of Barzani’s five sons, Binjirfan Barzani, is reportedly heavily involved with the Israelis. The Israelis and their Christian Zionist supporters enter Iraq not through Baghdad but through Turkey. In order to depopulate residents of lands the Israelis claim, Mossad operatives and Christian Zionist mercenaries are staging terrorist attacks against Chaldean Christians, particularly in Nineveh, Irbil, al-Hamdaniya, Bartalah, Talasqaf, Batnayah, Bashiqah, Elkosheven, Uqrah, and Mosul. These attacks by the Israelis and their allies are usually reported as being the responsibility of “Al Qaeda” and other Islamic “jihadists”. The ultimate aim of the Israelis is to depopulate the Christian population in and around Mosul and claim the land as biblical Jewish land that is part of “Greater Israel.” The Israeli/Christian Zionist operation is a replay of the depopulation of the Palestinians in the British mandate of Palestine after World War II. In June 2003, a delegation of Israelis visited Mosul and said that it was Israel’s intentions, with the assistance of Barzani, to establish Israeli control of the shrine of Jonah in Mosul and the shrine of Nahum in the Mosul plains. /snip

But by destroying Iraq and the problems that exist there still, or perhaps since the invasion, allied forces
can remain there under whatever pretence and there Iraq becomes a staging post for the real target; Iran and it's oil. Which brings me to a question, is the war on so called terrorism really a cover for we want your oil and we are going to get it ?

But like I asked elsewhere, what causes terrorism, what causes a person to commit an act described as terrorism, what propels that person to do this, and do those that govern us have anything to do with it ?

Sure, control of middle Eastern oil or a large majority of it will ease the west's problems, but at what cost ?

The US pretty much has to own Iraq- because the dollar is a petro dollar- backed by nothing- unless you count that oil is sold in dollars.  Anyone who uses oil or dollars has an interest in this.

Iran however gets fuzzy.  Iran does not have the oil that Iraq has- so Iran is not imperative to keep the dollar as a petro backed currency.

Israel may not be the 51st state in the U.S. but it does provides a valuable listening post in an area that corporate amerika finds financially attractive.
