Is this the  clear and concise rebuttle of my position?
Filled with verifiable facts and well thought conclusions?
Or is this what you think discussion means

And yet none of that,no matter how you spin it...equated to "the U.S.had only recently invaded Cuba".....perhaps a "minor" distinction....but even an American bashing asshole such as yourself would have to be forced to concede a rather significant distinction....as a matter of fact a distinction so significant as to make your original statement so much bullshit fit for nothing more than to line the bottom of the bird cage.
By the by...in case you haven't recognised it...that is what is known as a SPANKING.......asshole!

During the missile crisis?...When Cuba had allowed installation of Russian Nukes?...again whats your point?

The point is that Cuba is a soverign nation and it is none of the U.S.'s business what they put in their country.

1) Cuban expatriates invaded the Bay of Pigs(yes they had American funding and the promis of American support...but this is not the same as "the U.S. had only recently invaded Cuba"...again your stock in trade ...half truths and outright distortions.....doess this shit work on other message boards?....Please stop trying to run this grade school shit past me...it is insulting!

You really do not seem to be up to speed on this.
The Bay of Pigs was a C IA operation.
It was funded by the U.S. government.
It was armed and trained by the U.S. government.
They were under the direct commanded by an active duty marine officer.
There were U.S. active duty military in the assault force.
They were told explicitly by both presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy that  the U.S. would not under any circumstances us U.S. air resources in their support.

What he said guys.

Especially the "sovereign nation" bit. Put simply (for purposes of translation and sense of reality) ... you want someone next door to your house that you don't like the look of telling you they're going to do you with their AK because they're not comfy with you borrowing your mates crossbow ? ... do you see them as someone to look up to ? ... or do you think they're a fucktarded bully who should paint their own fence ?

Pirate

Edited just to rub in some salt ... the USA has exactly HOW many weapons poised in "host" countries which, if removed, would leave the USA with exactly HOW much global influence ?

How come I never get called an American bashing asshole anymore ?

Spanking assholes sounds like fun, but off topic.

Can I get away with insulting the "crown" again without being called on derailing (they're so fucking money hungry one of 'em must have ridden an Iraqui at some point)

And all of that matters not a whit Jonnieboy....the US's adherence to the Monroe Doctrine has been a staple of American foreign policy since 1823...if the USSR wanted to buck that policy...she should have been prepared for our response....obviously she wasn't....hence her blinking....and Kruschev's subsequent fall from grace.Quite simply Kruschev underestimated Kennedy's resolve and made the assumption that he could bully this young American President.....History shows he was wrong
And before Thompson shows up and claims a Soviet victory as a result of this affair...I would refer him back to his own post....Kennedy agreed, minus public linkage to remove missiles from Turkey....that had been scheduled to be removed anyway.....The Soviets blinked....and lost!

JonnieBoy -> RE: Iran begins production of cruise missiles (3/9/2010 11:39:34 PM)

Ok ... but I'm not from the USA, and from what I glean, Thompson has insight on certain issues which may be uncomfortable there, but in my eyes are perfectly valid.

I don't care if the above makes me unpopular because I believe it  is true. I will not be agreeing with everything Thompson says. I will see the world ... dirty as it is ... through my own eyes.

Thompsons "insights" are nothing more than misconceptions gleaned from distortions of cherry picked facts that he runs with and reaches inevitable conclusions....unfortunately consistently erroneous ones. But what the fuck,he's an asshole...what can you expect!

None of which have you been able to refute.
So you stamp your feet and stick out your tongue and call people names.

You will note that the U.S.'s major source of tungsten is encompased by the way that the demarkation line is drawn.  You will note that the line is "nominally on the 38th. parallel but that the demarkation line extends north of the 38th parallel to include this major tungsten source.

What that only back then?  Korea's not listed as a supplier nowadays.

A bully says something and that becomes "ex cathedra" fact?????

Unless you feel that soverign nations are not entitled to defend themselves you have yet to make a point.
Kruschev did not blink he got Kennedy to remove the Jupiter missles from Turkey.
He did not "fall from grace" he served out the rest of his term as premier (two more years).  He then retired and wrote his memoires and died in 71 of a heart problem.

He did bully Kennedy into removing the U.S. missles from Turkey

Why would Russia care what bullshit Kennedy told the U.S. population?

quote:

....that had been scheduled to be removed anyway

Perhaps you could validate that statement, if not it is just your opinion.

quote:

.....The Soviets blinked....and lost!

The did not blink and they did get exactly what they wanted.

Is the U.S. listed as a supplier of rock drilling bits to Russia and China?Berkshire Hathaway controls this company,
TaeguTec the largest exporter of Tungsten in S. Korea

thornhappy -> RE: Iran begins production of cruise missiles (3/10/2010 9:28:38 AM)

From the Mineral Information Institute:

Tungsten is retrieved from the ore minerals scheelite (CaWO4, calcium tungstate) and wolframite ((Fe,Mn)WO4, iron-manganese tungstate). Of the world’s tungsten reserves, over 90% are outside the United States. Of these resources, nearly half are found in China, and Canada and Russia also have large reserves. About one-third of the U.S. imports of tungsten are from China, Russia provides about 25%, and a variety of other nations provide the rest. A significant amount of tungsten is recovered through recycling of scrap tungsten products. Recycled tungsten in the US accounts for nearly one-third of the tungsten consumed. Major production of tungsten concentrates come from Austria, Bolivia, Canada, China, Portugal, and Russia.
