Well, there's the whole melting pot theory to think about. However, it is good to know of one's ancestors since some ethnic groups are prone to certain diseases. Our newspaper just had a 10 day series on genetic linked diseases. One of the employees of the newspaper has Paget's Disease in his family. Most of the articles were about his search to get someone interested in the disease, do the research to find the genetic marker and then to test his family for that marker. His search was successful and he does not possess the marker. As for Sinergy's t-shirt, I tend to agree with its sentiment. When South Africa's struggle with the dissolution of Apartheid was all the news, everyone compared it to slavery in the southern United States. I always thought a comparison with the conquering of the "New World" and the resultant herding of its native peoples to unknown lands to be watched by the government was a much better analogy.
