Well, I for one am glad this thread was resurrected because it gave Me something important to think about. I'm in a completely open marriage, but I always let people know about it within the first few messages (as soon as it looks like it might be someone I'm actually interested in talking to and not just another wanker) in case it's an issue for them. But it's honestly never once occurred to Me to put that information in My profile until I read this thread, and now I'm considering adding it. I don't know for sure whether I will or not, for a variety of reasons, but I am definitely and seriously considering it. The last thing I want is to mislead someone about My situation. And while I'm here I'd like to point out that, while it's true probably 98% of the time that if a person claims to have an open marriage and yet the potential partner can't get an opportunity to talk directly to the spouse, then the marriage is probably not really all that open, it's also true that there are exceptions to the rule. In My case, My husband and I have never had any sexual relationship whatsoever and we never will, and we both get our sexual fulfillment outside the marriage (it was planned that way from the beginning), but we give each other complete privacy about any activities that we engage in. That was his idea, incidentally. He doesn't want to talk about his relationships, and he doesn't want to hear about Mine. The one time I asked him to assure someone that it was all cool, he made it clear that that's not his problem. He said I would have find a way to deal with those situations Myself and that if a person didn't want to accept My word for it, it probably wasn't a good match anyway. So if one goes by the rule that there's no relationship without talking directly to the spouse, that would leave Me out of the equation. Don't get Me wrong; I certainly understand that it's a good rule overall and if that's what you need, more power to you. I'm only pointing out that it's possible to be completely on the level and yet not be able to offer concrete proof.
