I put 'Girl' in my screen name because, frankly, 9 times out of ten on an Internet type communication forum, most folks assume that I'm male. Apparently I come off like that, or something. Never have been able to figure it out, but I've seen it happen over and over again, and I didn't want people making that mistake here, so I figured letting people know that I am female would cause a lot less confusion. Same with the word 'Sub'. Most folks (not only online, this time, but in real life too!) tend to think that I'm dominant, or a switch. Hate to disappoint, but I'm a submissive. Really. I'm just not submissive to absolutely everybody that I talk to, is all. But when I tell folks, 'nope, I'm a sub' I inevitably get a suprised 'Really?' and then wierd looks for the rest of the night, like I'm lying or something. And as for 'Different' it's my understanding, having been in the kinky community for a bit, that I'm not noticibly like any other submissive. This could in part be due to my cognitive disorder/learning disability, it could be my unique way of looking at things, but regardless, most of the world -- career, friends, school, kinky, family, whatever -- thinks I'm different. Some think I'm very different. And the kinky community definately thinks I'm different . . . not sure why, but they do . . . oh well. And since I've been different to the rest of the world for my whole life, it seems natural that I should include it in my handle. Hence, the entymology behind the screen name 'DifferentSubGirl'.
