LordIronwolf -> Screen names and RT (3/30/2006 9:50:00 PM)

I was reading a profile recently that did catch my eye.
Do the screen names and RT names of those who use them  rejected simply offhand as being a fantasy without looking at who is using it? The ones mentioned were nics used that had the words such as Master or Lord in them. I am sure I do the same thing to an extent as I stay away from emails and profiles with the names kitty, kitten or lil in them.
Any pros and cons on this?
I have been using the nic Ironwolf for more than 20 years. It is a part of what I am.

So, I guess I'd better rethink my idea of my new screen name of Lord Master LilKittenKitty.

I'm not sure what you're asking here. You are knocking people for using terms like Lord or Master when you do the same thing and then further knocking people who reject, out of hand, someone with a particular word in their screen name when you do the same thing? Basically, what I'm reading here is that you have a double standard.  Perhaps I've misread your post because it's actually not very clear.

texguy98 -> RE: Screen names and RT (3/30/2006 10:53:02 PM)

I've been rejected due to confusion of my name :) My SN is "Texguy98", implying I live in Texas. While I am indeed from Texas and quite proud of it, I live in San Diego :) My profile states that, but I've been told that I've been passed over due to my screenname :)

I really don't care what people use for screennames. Usually the one you want is taken anyway so you have to come up with something crazy :)

IronBear -> RE: Screen names and RT (3/30/2006 11:30:36 PM)

I  tend to be less impressed with the nics like  "Kitty427" as  IMO it shows a lack of trying to have a unique name or one with a twist like "Kitty2006" or Mistressof kittylitter" or even for the guys "Mastercatshit" Each of those names says something about the person. Alternatively you could have simply "Just_David". There is an endless supply of things yoiu canuse whth having to replicate what others have done.. Do I auti reject paople due to their nic??? Hell No!!!! The person I reject may be my future kijira and knowing how rare they are, you think I'm that silly to blow it befor it starts????

Forgive my ignorance and terrible google skills, but what does "kijira" mean?

Thanks!

G'day Tex mate.  kijira (s) kajirea (p) Gorean for slave girl/s.

fullofgrace -> RE: Screen names and RT (3/30/2006 11:50:46 PM)

full of grace - a screenname i use on pretty much all my message boards, except for rp boards/boards based around book series.
meghan - my real name.
i also have a name that my Dominant calls me, with a history behind it that's rather more reflective of my personality.

Greetings Master IronBear and Texguy98.

kajira is Gorean for "slave girl".  [kajirae being the plural].

A Gorean kajira is not a bdsm subbie or masochist, but slave to Masters of Gor because it is her very essence and nature. It isn't something she can take or leave depending on her moods, but a totality of being.

Regarding names:
my name "dove" was given to me by someone very special years ago. i have been referred to by this name, both online and offline by those who know me. It is a name i am proud of..
But saying that, i have no preference over whether i am addressed as dove, or julie.  [for me, it is an honour when someone sees fit to address me as either].

[edited to add my apologies to Master IronBear, i had not see Your reply].

kind regards

Master began calling me  "peach" shortly  after We met cause  He said it was  just fitting to me hence the name change to Sir Micheals peach..
My real name is Evelyn aka peach
those who know me in reallife call me peach alot .. i think its cute and do actually answer to both names  now

Screen names are screen names.
People judge a book by the cover which I find is wrong, goodness knows how many people have messaged me saying "oh Severity please hurt me whip me crush my balls blah blah blah" there are many meaning to the word severity and it is not always negative.
I am sure when  people are picking screen names it has meaning to them..

Hello LordIronWolf,

No, I would never discount someone because of their screen name.  In actuality you have a great name.

masochistecstacy -> RE: Screen names and RT (3/31/2006 1:31:51 AM)

Screennames can be very important when it comes to first impressions and the like, but I would never outright reject someone for their screenname. It would be like rejecting someone without knowing anything about them but... say... their haircolor. It's just another facet of someone, not their entirety. Besides, one never knows the true meaning behind a screenname until one asks. So why reject them for what you think it means when it's completely possible that it means something totally different.

RiotGirl -> RE: Screen names and RT (3/31/2006 1:52:48 AM)

lol i actually could careless bout what others think of my screen name.  For some it could spell trouble, for others it could spell hilarious.  For me, its something an ex nick named me as after the song by good charlotte.  And when i went around smacking random ppl at pool halls with a pool stick and slapping bar owners in the face (he got too pushy ) and trying to run my boyfriend over unintentionally drunk.. and well tons of other things.. it just fit.  Tho i dont really care if anyone passes me over as i'm not looking for any and no ones given me a hard time.  Tho when it comes to the whole "kitten" thing.. never thought of it.  As for Dom's with Lord, or Master, or w/e... eh i usually give me a hard time.  Ran into some man in a yahoo chat with the name LordKingMaster or something or other and Booooooooooooooy did i laugh out loud at him and then explained.  Course i apologized for any rudeness.. it just hit my funny bone.  Supposedly those with self proclaimed titles are usually wannabee's but i dont judge those for having using those names.. i either let them prove the theory wrong, or prove it right.

Nah..... not a chance.

There are screen names and then there ''Do me'' screen names - You can read into the ''Do me'' types any way you wish.... but I'd bet a nickel against a donut that they are ''off the scale'' when it comes to fantasy vs. reality.

I only use a title as part of my screen name so others can easily distinguish my persuasion....   I intoduce myself to others simply as Monique, and sign off on all my emails and posts as Monique....

ladyangel -> RE: Screen names and RT (3/31/2006 8:22:48 AM)

I've been Lady Angel for years. I've had to use variations depending on how many others out there choose to pretend to be Me... [;)] But, on all of the message boards, online communities, blogspots, etc etc etc.....I am always SOME variation of LadyAngel.

Lady= what I am considered by most that encounter Me
Angel= tongue in cheek- somewhat, also a portion of My given name, Angela [:)]

In some respect, I do believe that screennames are a reflection of the person that owns them. Many show invoked thought--which, IMO is a sign that the person actually has a brain that they enjoy using. And there are those that signify some particular like, kink, fetish, etc. Even on the vanilla boards those are prevelant.

windchymes -> RE: Screen names and RT (3/31/2006 9:16:47 AM)

I have found that in chat rooms, names like "44DDTits" or "Lickmyjuicycunt" or "Suckyourcock" are almost always men posing as women.  Most women don't make up names that crudely describe their own body parts.  Or, if they are female, they're going to hit you with a link to a pay site that they run.

While I don't immediately reject anyone on the basis of their ID alone, I will usually give a longer pause to an ID that is more creative and different. Or more realistic and down-to-earth, rather than phantasmagorical.

No wonder.....

caitlyn -> RE: Screen names and RT (3/31/2006 9:23:32 AM)

I have no originality, so I just used my first name.

Besides, "lilsmartass" was already taken. [;)]
