I have always believed in a God, though what form/s said being takes, exactly how it operates, and what it expects, if anything, are matters for debate.  My personal theology is a mix of things that make sense to me based on what I've experienced and read.  Who knows if its right or not.  I don't have any proof that would convince anyone who isn't convinced by merely looking out the window while eating a succulent pear, and I feel that Atheists are just as entitled to their religion as Christians or Hindus, but the following site offers some fascinating food for thought. Mostly it just serves to add to the confusion, but it sure is interesting.

I'm actually of the same mind you are. It's just that those websites provide some very valid arguments when dealing with intolerant christians, so, I don't mind using them at all.

I like this. I used to play this game called "sims". I got to build a home and populate it with characters. In Sims you can predetermine their personality, size, sex, and shape. From that point you move them in and if you are a control freak you can determine their every move. BORING
I used to let my sims run free. I raised them for a bit, gave them some direction (like a parent), and once they got into a rhythm I let them be. It was fascinating to watch what they would do when I was not controlling them. Sometimes neighbors would come over and parties would happen. Once, in my son's game we found a "black widow" type of female who mated then killed.
If there is a god, and I do believe there is, I think he just made us and has let us play our own game to its conclusion. People blame, praise or deny it is their choice. I believe and that is enough for me.

i have a theory on this. suppose for a moment there is a God and that he did create everything. now, suppose that he's not as "all powerful" as is the claim. in theory, could it be possible that he ran out of power after creating all these things and can no long affect turns of events or anything else for that matter? like i said, it's only a theory.

However I'm not making an effort here to convince anyone of anything - please take from this whatever you wish - as I feel that everyone believes something, whether or not they believe in God, and in the absence of knowledge their beliefs, no matter how contrary or strange they are to mine, are just as valid.

Your daily life is your temple and your religion.

Whenever you enter into it take with you your all.

Take the plough and the forge and the mallet and the lute,

The things you have fashioned in necessity or for delight.

For in revery you cannot rise above your achievements nor fall lower than your failures.

And take with you all men:

For in adoration you cannot fly higher than their hopes nor humble yourself lower than their despair.

And if you would know God be not therefore a solver of riddles.

Rather look about you and you shall see Him playing with your children.

DNA reminds me of computer code plan and simple. A trait either is or isn't that's it on or off. 1 or 0 at the most basic level now this cant prove old Bog beyond the shadow of a doubt but to me it seems logical. To me its no more then that its more logical to me that their is then isn't.

What is bolded makes perfect sense. Whether one is an atheist, a Buddhist, Christian, Pagan or Wiccan; there will never actually be concrete physical proof that a God exists. Yes we have books that state he/she existed yet the only actual proof is what we as individuals firmly believe in our minds. I can no more proof that a Triple Goddess is real just like a Muslim can't prove that Allah exists. It is a belief which we adopted and accepted in ourselves. As I said earlier...I have no proof and would be impossible for me to prove beyond any doubt that the Gods I worship exists and I am wise enough to understand that that is a losing battle.

I don't want to get sucked into any massive debate, but the best counterargument that leaps off the top of my head is that humans have evolved to find healthy trees pretty because being surrounded by healthy trees means you are living in a healthy environment (sun, water, etc), and a healthy environment is desirable.

It's not that someone designed them to be pretty, it's that we think they are pretty because our sense of aesthetics reflects what is good for us. If humans thrived the most in a barren muddy wasteland I bet we'd think *that* was pretty.
