The prospects of 'conditional' surrender was not remotely possible when they machine gunned our wounded on the Bataan Death March... Unconditional surrender was the only possible outcome this nation was willing to accept...period....

Is it your position that We never did that sort of thing?
No unconditional surrender was a dicission made at Potsdam not in Washington.

So Hirohito wasn't left in place as Emperor after the end of the war, then?

That was a decision made by Douglas McCarther, not the piss ant Truman...

cuckyman -> RE: Freedom... (3/17/2010 11:11:48 AM)

Another liberal lie... McCarther made that decision, and informed Harry Ass...not Potsdam....

Ah. So what you've spent the last twenty pages failing to screw up the balls to say is that you think rule by a military dictatorship would be preferable to rule by elected representatives? Perhaps you should move to Pakistan or Uganda.

Perhaps you might want to read American Ceasar.  It is a biography of McArthur and it disagrees with your opinion.

So in your world Generals make policy and inform the chief executive of their decissions?

CountrySong -> RE: Freedom... (3/17/2010 11:15:33 AM)

Let's admit it folks - dispite all the "civilization" and "enlightenment" it all comes down to Us versus Them. (You can see that in most major city neighborhoods and our political system.) Them being anyone who has something that we want or has values that are different. If we can take it at a lower cost by buying it than fighting for it and taking it, then we will buy it.
What most people would really like is to have it given to them for free, that has been evident in the USA since the days the USA was first settled by Europeans. (Look up Jamestown).
Right now we have a government that believes in take from those who took the most and redistribute it. In a few years that will change somewhat but it will never go all the way back to freedom because the sheep had to be kept calm and if you cut benefits then the would bleet.
The simple truth is that the USA got stupid and lazy! We let another country buy us out - China. They control the purse strings. They are communist so guess where our government is headed - socialism.
You can wave all the rifles and handguns you want and shout USA is number One and freedom matters; but, a decent military force with modern weapons will kick your ass! (Yes I do own guns and use them and probably would be one to die fighting for my freedom.)
Personally, I like the Dali Llamas solution. He wrote that he is in favor of the Neutron bomb. It kills all life and leaves all of the assets intact. Clean and simple. I suppose you can do the same with biological weapons and it probably will happen.
If global warming is as serious as they say it is then we will see World War Three as countries battle for food, resources, and there religions. Also the events of the High Tech Singularity could trigger that war.
In the end you can bitch and moan all you want and nothing will change! It will all still be about who has the money and power. The sheep will only rise up when really pushed and if you keep them somewhat calm and fed they will be happy to be sheared. (Look at all the subs on here.) Our founding fathers knew this when the wrote the Decleration Of Independence - "all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed"
So spend less time bitching and more time figuring out how you plan to adapt and protect your "US" from the "Them"

Didn't MacArthur actually try to do that once and got his ass and his retirement handed to him by that piss and gatorbait Truman?

Just a friendly reminder, in case anyone didn't notice... this section is not called "Anything Goes".  How about we dial it down a bit?  Thanks.

Not necessarily 'murder' them....there is an old saying that 'get em by the balls and their hearts and minds will follow'....and most liberal trash live in the big filty cities of the midwest and northeast.... they are dependant upon food and water and power coming from somewhere else logistically speaking....and as Swartzkophf once said, "Logistics determines who wins wars".... how easily the task of cutting power, interupting food supplies, and blowing water lines would send these cities into panic..... and then it becomes academic...... where are they going to go, and what are they going to do?... The Viet Cong taught us how easily insurgency is used, and out here, we know how to survive....lots of fish and vegtables and cows to eat...and lots of space to get hidden within.... its easier to knock a train off the track, than to keep it on the track...and bud your side needs those trains....we don't....  and once you are in the open, you are in a world you don't know about...

SimplyMichael -> RE: Freedom... (3/17/2010 11:22:19 AM)

McCarther was America's Monte, all pomp, no substance. His inability to act after Pearl Harbor cost us years and untold number of lives. Everyone thought the Philipines were going to be the first target of the Japenese, they were armed with the best of everything, they stripped Pearl of armament, including patrol planes (part of why the Japanese fleet wasn't found) in order to arm the Philipines.

The fucking planes were sitting on the ground when the Japanese later attacked the Philipines, he had done NOTHING...complete and utter POS. He made the same mess of Korea.

I urge you to avail yourself of the psychiatric pharmacology services offered by your local VA hospital.  There is a clear and present need.

To me, you're "them". You cry for freedom but your discourse is about materialism and fear. Further from freedom you couldn't be.

BTW, the AMA conducted a poll only to find over 45% of doctors say they will leave practice if this Obama shit is crammed thru by some 'rule' concocted by the demopukes in congress....

Post a link to prove what you are saying.

But while you are trying to find that here are a couple for you:

AMA backs House health-care bill - First Read - msnbc.com

"On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the American Medical Association, I am writing to express our appreciation and support for H.R. 3200, the 'America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009,'" says Dr. Michael Maves, the AMA's executive vice president and CEO.

AMA supports Senate bill - Live Pulse - POLITICO.com

AMA President-elect Cecil Wilson: All Americans deserve affordable, high-quality health coverage so they can get the medical care they need – and this bill advances many of our priority issues for achieving the vision of a health system that works for patients and physicians.

and most liberal trash live in the big filty cities of the midwest and northeast....

So also do your conservative bretheren

they are dependant upon food and water and power coming from somehwere else logistically....and as Swartzkophf once said, "Logistics determine who wins wars"....

That is hardly more than an amazing grasp of the obvious

how easily the task of cutting power, interupting food supplies, and blowing water lines would send these cities into panic..... and then it becomes academic...... where are they going to go, and what are they going to do?...

So you want to start a revolution?
