Responding to Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Vincent Bugliosi shows evidence of the administration lying about WMD and has Steve King looking like his head is going to explode trying to get him to stop

As you probably already know, I'm not partial to conspiracy theories.

But in this case I think there is ample evidence that an invasion of Iraq was a goal of the Bush administration long before 9/11 gave them cover to do what they planned all along.

takemeforyourown -> RE: Prosecute George W. Bush for murder? (3/14/2010 5:53:42 PM)

Yes, Bush is a fucking war criminal (and I say that as a former service member). However, I don't think it is in the best interest of our national security to prosecute him or any other of the son's o' bitches who perpetrated the b.s. leading to the Wars.

Arpig -> RE: Prosecute George W. Bush for murder? (3/14/2010 6:36:55 PM)

If his actions were criminal, then how could it not be in the national interest to prosecute him?

slvemike4u -> RE: Prosecute George W. Bush for murder? (3/14/2010 6:49:21 PM)

Any such prosecution would be seen as politically motivated and would tear this country farther apart....just imagine the rancor and divisiveness evident here during an election cycle.Magnify to the nth power and you answer your own question

Smutmonger -> RE: Prosecute George W. Bush for murder? (3/14/2010 6:51:14 PM)

Naw,we should just send him to Afghanistan and make him ride around there in a humvee for a week without body armor.

They need to prosecute the entire lot of them. They are criminals from the word go.

slvemike4u -> RE: Prosecute George W. Bush for murder? (3/14/2010 7:03:45 PM)

At what price to the national psyche ?

At the point where you decide to prosecute GWB as a war criminal, you open up the doors to the prosecution of a number of our Presidents, including Obama and Clinton. There would be a free-for-all. Hell, you could retroactively try Harry Truman as a war criminal.

slvemike4u -> RE: Prosecute George W. Bush for murder? (3/14/2010 7:16:18 PM)

Ford pardoning Nixon was a travesty...and the wisest decision the man ever made from that office!Presidents are not above the law...but the time to stand up to Presidential power run amok, is while he occupies the Office....not once he leaves.
A prosecution of a former President hamstrings every succeeding Administration with the fear of politically motivated after the fact prosecutions.
Instead of Presidential Library's our former heads of state can simply raise money for the eventual charges to be levied against them!

servantforuse -> RE: Prosecute George W. Bush for murder? (3/14/2010 7:26:07 PM)

Has anyone on here really listened to Sheila Jackson Lee ? She is a nut case.

takemeforyourown -> RE: Prosecute George W. Bush for murder? (3/14/2010 7:30:27 PM)

I don't give a shit about the stupid national psyche, I think that prosecuting those motherfuckers would just encourage the majority of the world who hate us.

slvemike4u -> RE: Prosecute George W. Bush for murder? (3/14/2010 7:32:14 PM)

And you are in favor of conducting torture....does that invalidate every statement out of your mouth?
Whether or not you believe Lee to be a nutcase......there is certainly room for discussion concerning the culpability of the prior administration in waging an unjust war.

xBullx -> RE: Prosecute George W. Bush for murder? (3/14/2010 7:35:09 PM)

Today I watched a special covering the funeral procession of President Lincoln. They mentioned a speach of his delivered in the Springfield State Hall that talked about a nation divided.

I fear we are once again drawing terribly close to being a nation divided. And again it seems to be due to the suggestion that opposing sides find themselves more righteous and in a better position to think for others than I suppose is reasonable, oh, and I suspect greed for power and resources may have a good deal to do with it as well.

Frankly I believe there to be much bigger and more devious agendas at work here than whether "W" did or did not commit murder, directly or indirectly. I'm fairly certain that if we had the same information age abilities around to examine the administrations in power prior to the start of both WWI and WWII we would and perhaps should have been having these very same charges levied.

But I'm tired of justice and the rights of the people being all about and in the name of politics. You could hear in this man's comments he had a political agenda and that in itself leaves me more suspicious of him than "W".

I'm gonna say it plain and fuckin' simple, if the "W" Administration knew, then so did Congress and the Dems. And if that is the case I believe the charges of treason should be sounded from the top of the Washington momument and not just staged theatrically in front TV cameras at the most seemingly politically opportunistic of times.

slvemike4u -> RE: Prosecute George W. Bush for murder? (3/14/2010 7:39:37 PM)

Exactly Bull,the time to stop Bush from waging a war of choice.....was prior to marching off to the beat of martial drums.....not as a legal exercise in political knife sharpening.

And so is Dick Cheney and that has been my position for the last 8.5 years.

Gawd, I hate that I served under him as my Commander-in-Chief. I was in Germany on 9-11. The locals left a friggin' pile of flowers and memorials for our Fallen. The first boy I ever held hands with died in the WTC. But we ruined any good will we had among our Allies by invading Iraq. Still, if we prosecuted Bush and his cronies, would we do anything more than satisfy our own outrage. Do you not think that those who hate us would use it as yet another excuse to destroy us?

slvemike4u -> RE: Prosecute George W. Bush for murder? (3/14/2010 7:47:48 PM)

Granted Lady Angelika...but my opinion is any prosecution would come with a very high price...and no possible result arising from such a prosecution would make the whole exercise worthwhile.

Ditto, mine, too.

No. And I think that the rest of the world has a very poor opinion of us for not prosecuting them.

I'm not an us. I'm Canadian. I think that if the American people woke up and did this properly, that it actually might redeem you in the eyes of your enemies.

What is the high price in your opinion? And out of principle, I do think it is worth it, if only to serve as a warning for those in the future that you shouldn't get away with genocide simply because you are a US president.
