I recently met a so called sub who shared with me whenever he attended dungeon affairs with a Mistress Domme he would wear leather pants a black shirt and boots. What? I was appalled to say the least. No sub of mine would ever get to wear  a leather get up like this. Tell me your thoughts about leather attire for a submissive male?

Was he a "so called sub" because he wore leather or was it something else that led you to that conclusion?

What someone wears has nothing to do with whether they are dominant/submissive/whatever.

I guess I'm not quite understanding what you mean?  What was wrong with what he was wearing and why does it make him not a submissive?

I'm not trying to flame, I am lifestyle but I don't go to clubs or anything, although I did want to go as a "tourist" when mine returns and we can go together, so I was just curious of the rules

What does it matter what he's wearing, so long as it pleases his Mistress?

I suspect making the sub dress as the worst cliche in 'so-called' doms is all part of some humiliation play. I'd certainly be embarrassed on his behalf, although he'd cause a problem for our running tote on how many dimdoms in leather waitcoats/pants we spot - would we count him, even though he's a sub? Would he score a half point? He should be more considerate and be dressed in sackcloth and ball 'n' chain so we know exactly where he stands!

But seriously. How ridiculous. People wear what the hell they like (or what the hell they're told, if that is their dynamic). Personally I expect any sub accompanying me to a public event to be stunningly attired, and make me proud! I don't care if they 'look' sub, as look as they look GOOD! If I'm going to beat them, the clothes are coming off anyway ;)

It's going to depend on the situation.  If you're attending a service oriented event, some of them will specifically request a standard, such as white (shirt, corset, whatever) for the person's top half of their body and black (pants, skirt, whatever) for the bottom half.  If you're just talking about a regular dungeon party, there isn't anything wrong with the outfit that he's describing.  It isn't just Tops alone that wear such things.  Many male bottoms in the scene will wear leather pants.

Thanks for answering me LP since she won't

When I go to a dungeon I like to dress kinda like June Cleaver. Heels and an A-line dress. No one ever kicked me out for "wrong attire".

I am mighty curious:  What DO you think is appropriate attire for a submissive male? What would you have yours wear?

You're welcome, of course.  What I do tend to suggest to folks is, if you are planning to attend a club or an event, take the time to research the club's website or speak to someone prior to going.  This can help with dress code, dungeon rules, and all kinds of other things you'll probably want to know.

What was wrong with what he was wearing? Second question why did it bother you so much? As long at the attire is not outside the norm people should not really bother with what others are wearing. As long as he is wearing what his Domme told him too, and it was pleasing to her that is all that matters. If SHE had a problem with his attire he would not be wearing that.

Leather pants = reserved for dominants... check
Leather boots = reserved for dominants... check

I'm unclear though, on the status of the black shirt.  Is that another piece of the domly dom ensemble?  Or is it a subbly sub thing?  Or does it carry an orientation of heteroflexible?  These are very important questions, yanno.

Leather pants = reserved for Jim Morrison, who no longer needs them

Leather boots = ........aren't all boots made of leather?.... is it a color thing? Doms wear black boots, subs wear brown?
