Why do you say "No undergarmets are not acceptable in Starbucks". I know plenty of vanilla girls who don't wear panties and you would never know if unless they wanted you to. I also know people who never wear a bra. No undergarments are perfectly acceptable anywhere. It depends what you have over them.

It might be "stupid" but I've met quite a few female subs who wear 3 inch heels and stockings. Are we not allowed to have preferences even in the world of BDSM?

I don't see a reason to generalize, or apply the same set of rules to every scenario. I wouldn't try to arbitrarily impose my will on a girl I hadn't met...then again, a sub once asked me what to wear on our date and I did specify no panties. We had a great time. But obviously there was an undertanding that if there hadn't been chemistry, her lack of panties wasn't an invitation.

Do you think that if you aren't wearing a physical barrier, you're implicitly giving someone the right to fuck you against your will? Do you think the *Dom* believes that? If so, you need to specify your expactations, get to know him better, or find a different Dom to meet in public. What you're wearing is irrelevant...it's chemistry that matters. If you want to make a good first impression, it can't hurt to follow instructions. Just make it clear that there's no implied guarantee.

The question was do I demand it and why would I.

I don't order anyone that isn't mine yet, not my right at that time. 

I do, by the time I agree to a face to face meeting, have told her that I expect that if we work that she will be pantyless unless I allow her to wear them.  I have explained that I rarely give commands or orders but that if we work I expect my requests to be treated as commands. 

I will set up a first meeting with lots of requirements all of them designed to let her know that she is safe with me.  She will meet me in a very public place, I will pay for the coffee or dinner etc., also that this meeting is for us to get to know each other in person and that it will be for a set amount of time, that I have no intention of taking her home that day.  Safe call is set up with a friend of hers if the meeting is for more then an hour.

Now do I expect that she will show up pantyless, yes I do, as far as braless, I could care less.  Panties though do have an emotional tie, so her being there without them does offer me a lot of insight into who she is.  If she shows up with them on, as I said I won't order or command it, and I am interested in an ongoing relationship, I will tell her that I am very interested in going on with this relationship.  At that point I will tell her that if she feels the same then she needs to remove the panties and show me that she has when she returns, and no I don't mean that I expect to see the goods just a flash of the panties as they go into or are in the purse or pocket.

If I walk her out to her car I will kiss her goodbye, and that kiss will have one hand in her hair and the other on her throat.  That will conclude the first meeting or date.

Either way I know if I have her attention and interest, I will have seen if she can be submissive in ways I do find to be important and possible deal breakers.

Again though I stress that we have talked both online and by phone to get to know each other pretty well before this.

Downland, no, I don't think that, it's more that if that is the first thing he focuses on with a potential meet, I assume that he's a HNG.[;)] If I had asked what to wear and got that as part of the answer, I wouldn't get bent out of shape though - it's kind of inviting that sort of answer. I might feel embarrassed for phrasing it poorly, though.

Aylee, I wouldn't have a major problem with JayDragon or Roland's "dress code" although I would have to negotiate on the pumps - I have other kinds of heels, but not those. When I wear heels, I bring them in the car with me, and wear flats that also coordinate with my outfit to drive. When I arrive there, I just change shoes.[:D] Of course, heels would have been completely inappropriate for two of the first meetings/first dates I had when I was looking last year - one was indoor rock climbing, and the other involved lugging computers around. If either had wanted me to wear heels, I could have brought them along, and headed back to the car to switch them at an appropriate point.

What if it was just something fun that popped into his head?  Since I went ahead and met the dude in real life...sans bra and panties...I can say with absolute certainty that my partner is not just a HNG.  Okay so he is horny and spends quite a bit of time online and can be kinda geeky about some things, but I digress.  [:D]  The point of the matter is that this was not the entire focus for him in meeting me for the first time.  It was just something silly to do.  I'm glad I knew him well enough to not pass him by based on this little thing alone.  It was truly no big deal.  It just meant I didn't have to do laundry BEFORE going out of town.  LOL 

Seriously though, if a person's motivations were suspect, I didn't do these sorts of things and usually didn't feel much inclined to meet in the first place.  I knew his motivations were not untoward and we understood each other that there was no guarantees and there was no obligation to play or have sex.  As a matter of fact, there was no panty check either until, of course, things progressed to that step.  There was no issue of mixed messages.  I didn't feel obligated and he wouldn't have had his feelings hurt.  I just don't see it as a big deal with the proper basic trust and communication in place.
