Responding to the fringe just deflects their own message and gives that fringe the attention theyre seeking. commenting would be idiotic.

Precisely.

Thousands attended today's "Code Red" rally, spread out across the West Lawn of the Capital.  All I've been able to find reported are three individuals who behaved very badly (the spitting, n word, and faggot incidents), and the two idiots who carried the Browning signs.

What makes you think they were even noticed by the speakers?  And just how do you figure those 5 people represent the entire Tea Bag party?

Funny there are other reports of large groups acting in unison and doing these things.

Links, please?

Sorry... was this supposed to be a link proving that other large groups behaving in a similar way?  It appears to be just a different report on the same incident where the reporter simply uses vague terminology.  I'm afraid that until someone can provide me a link to video clearly showing a majority of the protesters engaging in this behavior, I'm still going to question why anyone would believe that this handful of lunatics represents the whole group.

from the above article
quote:

Lewis said he was leaving the Cannon House office building across from the Capitol when protesters shouted "Kill the bill, kill the bill," Lewis said.

"I said 'I'm for the bill, I support the bill, I'm voting for the bill,' " Lewis said.

A colleague who was accompanying Lewis said people in the crowd responded by saying "Kill the bill, then the n-word."

You claimed the reports were of three individuals. This report clearly indicates more than that were involved in this single incident.

Uh-huh... funny how words work like that... and we know that no one would ever write anything that wasn't absolutely true.

I'm just wondering if you were so hesitant in rushing to a judgement where the Acorn matter was concerned.....you know the one where only edited versions of the tape were released....and where the little shit was later arrested for allegedly conspiring to bug an office?
Just asking.

There is a general feeling that the congress does not listen to the people.  That will come out in other ways.  If people can never participate within the system- they will begin to wonder about outside of the system.  So name calling and profanities is a possible outcome.  I am not saying it is the right thing to do.  I am saying that people currently are at odds with the federal congress.

That's a hellova huge generalization to make from thousands who protest and make the news cycle to a diverse nation of 300 million people. I would posit that it is only a sideshow. How can you justify your comment: "if people can never participate within the system....[they will go] outside the system." The "system" is based on Law passed as a result of elections. "People" had ample opportunity to participate in November 2008, and they did so. These protestors are the losers is all. They are not the people until they win an election.

Where the hell were these summer patrots when Geo Bush dragged us into an unnecessary war and the too-big-to-fail-banks raided the US Treasury? Were they out in the streets then? No, not until an African-American historically assumed the Presidency. Their racism is just too transparent and it will become more obvious when/if Congress takes up the dilemma of what to do with 12 million illegals. The Nativists will be out in full force then screaming "he/they aint one of us."

Then here you come and make the exact same sort of generalization, inferring that all of the people that are upset about the current legislative maneuvers are based on race. Many of us that are against the current out of control spending, were against it during the last administration as well.

I further find your remarks about folks not being "the people until they win an election" to be very telling. I suppose if and when the pendulum gives control back to the other party, you will then be silent as you will no longer be part of "the people".

I don't think we have reached that point yet. However, that doesn't mean it should be taken off the table during the negotiations.

Vince,  if you think I supported Bush you are way off.   Check my posts from the Bush era.  I was equally as critical on his policies.   CM regulars will recall that I went off on Bush policies many of times.
