Mentioning and thanking Ted Kennedy was not only a nice touch...it was the right thing to do.

Now that wasn't so bad.....hell Lennon wrote a pretty good song with that tag...

The problem with it Mike is that those things are and have been possible without the legislation they are about to vote on.

And she just lied, as this bill does not cover all Americans, and the coverage for those it does cover doesn't start until 2014. Got to love these politicians.

Agreed.

I have a dumb question.

If people voting on this bill are so proud of their votes and what it is going to accomplish, why wouldn't the speaker grant the request for a "call of the roll" where each member would have to stand and state their vote as Yay, Nay, or Present?

slvemike4u -> RE: Healthcare Debate in the House - Live Video Coverage (3/21/2010 7:37:09 PM)

Thad I specifaccly heard her use the line"32 million Americans"..I didn't hear,or take notice of her claiming "all Americans"..but even if she did..she is not a great speaker, she stumbles with her words..perhaps she misspoke?I'm willing to give her the benifit of the doubt...especially on something as readily transparent as that!

It is a common talking point of hers dating back to at least Oct of last year. She constantly claims that with this bill we will be covering all Americans.

slvemike4u -> RE: Healthcare Debate in the House - Live Video Coverage (3/21/2010 7:40:51 PM)

Not yet Zephy...but certainly a step towards that eventual goal.

Sure ,if thats all you are looking for I'll take a go at it.....They would rather not give lying sack of shit death panel talking Republicans the video in which to bash them over the head with.
If your opponet was menacing you...would you offer him some extra bullets?

Not yet. It still has to be signed by the Prez, and stand up to the court challenges that a few states have stated they will file immediately upon approval.

That being said, if it does get signed into law, they just passed one hell of a tax hike on Americans, with nothing to show for it until after Obama is possibly reelected. Think about that one for just a minute. None of the benefits that we have been talking about kick in until after the next Presidential elections, right during the midterms of that term.

If my enemy was lying about my position I would think the video of me voting for what I thought was an excellent law would be a welcome thing. Not only that but you would have video of your opposition voting against this great bill.

Tis really a shame that on such a proud and historical vote such as this, to deny something that has been done for many important pieces of legislation. Did you notice which side of this vote was actually bipartisan?
