You think the half of the republicans that will have theirs seized will get a clue as well? Or is 1/2 of them too big a number to go for, perhaps 10% will get a clue? 5% will get a clue?

I believe that technically, if you're deemed to be a hazard to yourself or others, they can legally medicate you against your will.

However, your recent posts have been sharp and on point, dude - so no worries there. Whatever you're doing - keep it up.

The ones I have seen show Obama getting a small bump from the passage, with one poll showing a 7% bump from Friday to today.

I would guess that there will be another 2-5 point move upwards over the next couple days (kind of like a convention bump). I suspect the trend will turn down again as the high of getting it passed wears off.

The Monsanto post a few weeks ago was a particularly good one, too.

Okay really stupid question but for those who have read it -- does it bloody cover dental and vision?

Not that I have read. The only thing that I remember seeing is that the costs of covering those via premiums is to be included in wheter the plan is a cadillac plan or not.

That could change, as has been stated this was just the first step.

Edited to add: The original house bill required dental coverage for children (those under 21).

You don't file monthly and you don't go to court to pay the fine if you don't buy insurance. Instead you don't get a tax break on your annual income tax.

You don't file monthly and you don't go to court to pay the fine if you don't buy insurance. Instead you don't get a tax break on your annual income tax.

There is also going to be a new form similar to a 1099 to account for insurance coverage, with 16k new IRS agents and Sect of Health & Human services reviewing and enforcing coverage and penalties. My understanding any fines will be taken out of yearly returns...

So the Federal Government passes a law by the approved democratic process, and then the next thing that happens is that individual states try to find a way out of complying with it. Makes me wonder whether it is really 1 country or 50 different countries just pretending to be 1.
Presumably the individual states joined the Union of States voluntarily, so if any state does not like the way the Federal system of Government operates, then presumably they are free to cede from the Union as well.

Did you ever read the Constitution ? The federal government has never been able to force a private citizen to buy something they didn't want, until now. May next they will be telling you that you have to buy a GM car, since they own the company.

forced social security contributions, taxes.

It will pass. Federal trumps state.

Sorry servant. This is a political battle. This is going to be how it is decided.

The servantsforuse lost. You should have been paying more attention over what had transpired over the last eight years to allow this to happen.

At the least this should make you incredibly happy because it will give you something that you can bitch about and be a source of misery for years to come....Rejoice!!!!

You miserable little man.

Well if enacting a law by public mandate, with a majority of elected lawmakers voting in favour of it is unconstitutional, then perhaps someone should look at the appropriateness of said constitution in today's modern world.
Perhaps the real question that should be debated is "Is healthcare a basic human right or just another area in which to conduct 'For Profit' commerce ?"
