I don't care for any of them, but I did vote for McCain because I considered him the lesser of two evils. I'll wager that most people are very sorry that they voted for that sob Obama bin Laden.

I'll wager you are wrong.

Sanity -> RE: Democrats express safety concerns after protests (3/25/2010 7:12:28 AM)

According to the polling, a lot of people are sorry. I saw an article earlier this morning that said Jews especially are coming to regret their votes for Obama because of the way he became outraged when he learned that Jews were building houses in their capital city of Jerusalem. its kind of a joke but not really funny, how do you get B. Hussein Obama really ticked off, you tell him that the Jews are building houses in Jerusalem...

You two should mate! Can you imagine the abomination such a union might produce?

This misses the bigger point: capitalism as it really exists is and has always been all about political (control) economy, such that the question shouldn't be 'Socialism or Capitalism?' (your standard 'American' false choice) but rather 'Socialism for whom?'. Obama continues Bush's policies of socialism for the top 1%, something, by the way, that our founding fathers were also involved in. This even includes banking scams.

Are you referring to government bailouts of companies and stuff?

I'm not sure if that's considered 'socialism' because my understanding of socialism is that it's very proletariat/"the people" oriented. I do get the government subsidy but I don't know if it's quite on the same level as something like socialized health.

But maybe I misunderstood what you were getting at with this?

From each according to their ability, to each according to their need. In the case of the bailouts, the corporations needed a shit ton of money to stay alive and the government has the best printing press in the world. The Bush policies (his administration, but certainly not new ideas) socialized losses but left profits private. It's welfare. On a much higher level than health care reform. Health "insurance" reform, on the other hand....

Keep reading your skewed polls. I spend the greater percentage of my time in a town that the greater percentage voted democrat.......I have not heard one single word of regret.

I do however, still hear occasional sighs of relief that the republican ticket did NOT win.

domiguy -> RE: Democrats express safety concerns after protests (3/25/2010 8:10:25 AM)

Sanity is referring to all of the conservatives that are now dressed up as tea baggers.

It's laughable how "a lot of people" really means the "conservatives that are not getting their way"....Boo fucking hoo!!

cuckoldmepls -> RE: Democrats express safety concerns after protests (3/25/2010 8:16:19 AM)

Funny how they are concerned about their own safety, but not the safety of unborn children. About 150 Representatives were willing to vote for the bill even before they removed funding for abortion. They are certified mass murderers just as Obama is by funding overseas abortions and attempting to fund them here. Some things in life we have no control over, but when you intentionally fund abortion or try to fund abortion, there just is no escaping the reality. You are a baby killer. The democrats actually believe that abortion is a better method of birth control than enforcing our immigration laws. Perhaps it's because Illegal aliens who receive amnesty will vote, while unborn dead babies don't. Quite frankly, if you vote for an open borders, pro socialism, pro abortion democrat, you have to be insane. We are $10 trillion in debt, and moving towards a welfare state is only going to make things worse for our descendants. You can't spend your way to prosperity when you're already in debt, but democrats think you can.

Sounds crazy. But it's true! I have a friend who relied on the "tough on illegal immigration" birth control method. She did everything right. Signed the "English Only" petition. Wrote letters in support of local enforcement of immigration laws. She even did Spring Break down in Texas with one of those private border patrol groups. And she still got pregnant!

How did we get to this point?

Do you think it might be because both Reagan and Bush spent eight years each doubling our national debt?

Moonhead -> RE: Democrats express safety concerns after protests (3/25/2010 8:55:45 AM)

Of course not: only a commie liberal dupe would think anything like that: those who aren't dim sheeple like that can see the real truth as handed down by the GOP and Rush Limbaugh.

Law enforcement officials say a package with white powder was sent to Congressman Weiner's Queens office today.

A preliminary review shows the letter in part complained about the historic health care legislation passed by Congress this week, according to the source.

NYPD and FBI spokesman are only confirming that they are responding to the scene.

Check back here for frequent updates on this breaking story.

The package sent to Weiner's office may be the latest in a series of threats directed against Democratic Congress members who voted to overhaul the U.S. health care system.

Is this acceptable? Some posters have said that this type of response was to be expected after the vote on health care.

I don't agree. This is not what the founding fathers of the country had in mind and if this is what our country has deteriorated to, then something is drastically wrong.

Thadius -> RE: Democrats express safety concerns after protests (3/25/2010 1:27:26 PM)

I agree with you about violence and threats of violence being wrong on many counts. I am just curious where all of this hoopla and attention was when a senator was being treated the same way a couple weeks ago for his philibuster of the "jobs" bill?

housesub4you -> RE: Democrats express safety concerns after protests (3/25/2010 1:55:44 PM)

I do not remember anyone carry a sign with guns on it, nor do I believe his office windows where broken, nor radio hosts having teaparty people on saying violence is all they have left or saying elected officials lives where at risk

Some (many) people see me as a democrat.

I am going to go get a beer, and I will drink it out in front of god and everybody, but I am going to be afraid for my safety.

Well, it is fact that the Tea Party members have brandished signs implying that a "browning" can stop health care reform, with a picture of a pistol, AND the Republican leaders are courting such people. That would imply that the Republican Party has no problem with such threats, tactics and behavior.

If you have a problem with this fact, then I suggest you change political parties or become independent.
Tell me jeff...do YOU have a problem with Obama courting people such as William Ahrers (sp), a known terrorist?

Not every tea bagger is into violence, nor is everyone opposed to the health care bill a right-wing fanatic.  I'm opposed to the bill but do not support the use of threats or intimidation to discourage it.  As has been said elsewhere in this thread, there are always one or two nutjobs in a crowd...the same can be said for your side as well as the conservative side.

One thing that REALLY puzzles me is this...if this is what EVERYBODY wanted, why the protests?

Because at this point if Obama fixed the deficit without inconveniencing anybody and gave every man and woman in America a big house and a blowjob while he was at it, there'd still be protests? There's a lot of people on the right who don't want him doing anything, and certainly don't like anything he does, regardless of whether or not it's exactly what McCain would have done if he'd won.
