Tell me jeff...do YOU have a problem with Obama courting people such as William Ahrers (sp), a known terrorist?

Not every tea bagger is into violence, nor is everyone opposed to the health care bill a right-wing fanatic.  I'm opposed to the bill but do not support the use of threats or intimidation to discourage it.  As has been said elsewhere in this thread, there are always one or two nutjobs in a crowd...the same can be said for your side as well as the conservative side.

One thing that REALLY puzzles me is this...if this is what EVERYBODY wanted, why the protests?

How exactly did Obama court William "AYERS?"  ...You said "court"...why did Obama court Ayers?

Tell me, what has the terrorist Ayers been doing with his life for the last 15-20 years?

I wonder how many of the protestors even know the details of the Health care plan that they are protesting against?  These people are often the most misled, ignorant people when it comes to having "truthful" knowledge.

Now that is a fact jack.

Where did Jeff or anyone else use the term "everybody?"  I didn't read the entire thread but it seems obvious that those types of statements are "always" incorrect.

So was the statement "everybody" even used?

People in the tea baggers idolize and listen to their talking heads and believe the words that come out of these people's mouths as if they are gospel.

Sarah Palin is an idiot.  Have you listened to what she has had to say about the health bill?

Almost everything that comes out of that woman's mouth is wrong.  So people compound their initial error of admiring her by now actually believing in the lies that she spews.

Go! tea baggers go!  Split the party.

link please (not that I just spent a half hour searching for such a poll and didn't find anything)

He said an "article," not a "poll". This turned up on my first search. It's not new, though. It's from November, and expands on a July WSJ op-ed piece...

have the Obama administration's recent foreign policy stances towards Israel caused some Jews to regret voting for Obama?

Harvard University professor and author Alan Dershowitz thinks so. In a July Wall Street Journal op-ed, Dershowitz accused the Obama administration of pulling a "bait and switch" with Jewish voters.

I didn't keep looking (shrug).

East Jerusalem.

Jordan annexed East Jerusalem ('48 or '49) and Israel didn't have access to it until after the '67 war.  Palestinians want East Jerusalem as their capital in a 2-state solution.

Settlements in general have created a lot of bad blood, since many are illegal; others are built surrounding existing Arab communities and stopping growth of those communities, and some actually cut off access to Arab farmlands and orchards.

There's a ton of subtlety in anything regarding settlements in Israel and the same goes for opinions of American and Israeli Jews on settlement and/or peace issues.

Nice Hussein reference, btw.  Like anyone could forget his middle name after the campaign.

According to the polling, a lot of people are sorry. I saw an article earlier this morning that said Jews especially are coming to regret their votes for Obama because of the way he became outraged when he learned that Jews were building houses in their capital city of Jerusalem. its kind of a joke but not really funny, how do you get B. Hussein Obama really ticked off, you tell him that the Jews are building houses in Jerusalem...

I don't care for any of them, but I did vote for McCain because I considered him the lesser of two evils. I'll wager that most people are very sorry that they voted for that sob Obama bin Laden.

Actually what a large portion of those polled are sorry about is that the Health care reform does not carry a public option, that shows up in every poll or go far enough.  When you read the entire poll with questions you will find that trend is in almost every poll

Former militiaman unapologetic for calls to vandalize offices over health care

"To all modern Sons of Liberty: THIS is your time. Break their windows. Break them NOW."

"Break them NOW. Break them and run to break again. Break them under cover of night. Break them in broad daylight. Break them and await arrest in willful, principled civil disobedience. Break them with rocks. Break them with slingshots. Break them with baseball bats. But BREAK THEM."

In the days that followed, glass windows and doors were shattered at local Democratic Party offices and the district offices of House Democrats from Arizona to Kansas to New York. At least 10 Democratic lawmakers reported death threats, incidents of harassment or vandalism at their offices over the past week, and the FBI and Capitol Police are offering lawmakers increased protection.

"The central fact of the health-care bill is this, and we find it tyrannical and unconstitutional on its face," Vanderboegh said. "The federal government now demands all Americans to pay and play in this system, and if we refuse, we will be fined, and if we refuse to pay the fine, they will come to arrest us, and if we resist arrest . . . then we will be killed. The bill certainly doesn't say that, but that's exactly and precisely what is behind every bill like this."

He said his call for people to throw bricks is "both good manners and it's also a moral duty to try to warn people."

Vanderboegh said he once worked as a warehouse manager but now lives on government disability checks. He said he receives $1,300 a month because of his congestive heart failure, diabetes and hypertension. He has private health insurance through his wife, who works for a company that sells forklift products.

[Emphasis added]

Politico reports 2 Republican members of Congress have also received threats, House Minority Whip Eric Cantor of Virgina and Jean Schmidt of Ohio.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0310/35021.html

The Richmond police say Cantor's office was not targeted, it was a shot someone fired in the air and as the bullet came down it randomly hit his office window.

Threats against lawmakers spread after health vote

Cantor, meanwhile, said he has received e-mail threats and that a bullet struck the window of his campaign office building in Richmond. But Richmond police said the bullet apparently had been randomly fired skyward. It hit the front window of a building that houses Cantor's campaign office as it fell at a sharp downward angle around 1 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

But that didn't stop dear, lovable Eric from playing the victim to take heat off the GOP for inciting all this:

"By ratcheting up the rhetoric, some will only inflame these situations to dangerous levels," said House Republican Whip Eric Cantor of Virginia. "Enough is enough. It has to stop."

It's also interesting to note that Cantor refused to release any of those e-mail threats he said he received.

As far as Schmidt, the only claim was she received messages calling her a racist.  No threats.

This smells to me like Republicans backed into a corner by their inadvertent encouragement of extremists and now they are trying to shift the blame and play "I'm also a victim".

Sure I'm armed but unless and until I see that the ballot box fails to be respected as a means to replace the  government I'll save the torches and pitchforks for later.

Everyone wants to disown the violent ones when they get the press.

Small number of fringe folks with poor impulse control, make threats and damage property and that happens to both left and right protest groups.

Hmmm wonder what kind of sales I could make with Pitchfork shaped plastic protest sign handles???????

I bet that would sell.

A political party has not made threats. These are individuals doing this under the name of being a conservative. Someone please show me where any conservative political movement advocates death threats and cross hairs? And before anyone pops up with Palin, i consider her a twit, not a political figure.

This is really sad, but not surprising. The Race Riots back in the 60's and 70's are a prime example. These are those same people who grew up in that era. And as much as certain parties wish to deny, these acts are, in part, racially motivated. They are also politically motivated, economically motivated, but, more of all, are motivated from a place of fear.

People are afraid, which allows others to turn that fear into anger.

Any side who applauds, condones or incites such behavior should be banned abd barred. And person who does so should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for any damage and injury they have caused through their reckless disregard.

Except Cantor is not trying to just disown the violence he is actively trying to make it appear as if the Democrats who are being targeted are to blame for speaking out about it:

Cantor: It's The Democrats Who Are Fanning The Flames

Cantor said a bullet was shot through the window of his Richmond, Va., campaign office this week, and that he's gotten threatening emails.

"I will not release them because I believe such actions will only encourage more to be sent," he said.

He said to do so -- as some Democratic lawmakers have done -- would be reckless.

"It is reckless to use these incidents as media vehicles for political gain," he said. He called out DCCC Chair Chris Van Hollen and DNC Chair Tim Kaine by name as those who are "dangerously fanning the flames by suggesting that these incidents be used as a political weapon."

While claiming the Democrats are using these incidents as political weapons he is doing exactly what he is accusing them of.

You mean like the accusations the other claiming that Repubs were encouraging this behavior, and as a certain Dem Congressman claimed "aiding and abetting".

The Cantor incident occured Monday, and even you hadn't heard a thing about it until I posted in the other thread about it. Either side trying to use these threats and "attacks" for political gains and fundraising should be scourged.

P.S. When are those pitchfork signs gonna be ready Archer?

Well, it is fact that the Tea Party members have brandished signs implying that a "browning" can stop health care reform, with a picture of a pistol, AND the Republican leaders are courting such people. That would imply that the Republican Party has no problem with such threats, tactics and behavior.

If you have a problem with this fact, then I suggest you change political parties or become independent.
Tell me jeff...do YOU have a problem with Obama courting people such as William Ahrers (sp), a known terrorist?

One thing that REALLY puzzles me is this...if this is what EVERYBODY wanted, why the protests?

Because at this point if Obama fixed the deficit without inconveniencing anybody and gave every man and woman in America a big house and a blowjob while he was at it, there'd still be protests? There's a lot of people on the right who don't want him doing anything, and certainly don't like anything he does, regardless of whether or not it's exactly what McCain would have done if he'd won.
Kind of hard to fix the deficit when you keep adding to it, isn't it?  That said, you are right...just as there are those on the left that you know, if they disagree with their man in the White House, would vehemently disagree with anything any conservative person in there would try to do.  And that would be called "protests".  Or, given the nature of most in the media, "cautious, sensible disagreement".
