DarlingSavage -> What's up with that? (3/24/2010 8:53:23 PM)

Ok, so I get this message from this guy on here and he's referring to me in 3rd person. For example, "I hope girl is pleased that I deigned to send her an email." It makes me laugh. So, I'm looking at this note, and I'm thinking, "I'm never going to be able to take this person seriously."

I realize that they do this in Gor, but I'm not into the Gor thing. I guess I'm just wondering how anyone else feels about being addressed like this by a total stranger. I'm not offended by it, I do get a good laugh out of it, but at the same time, I feel kind of condescended to. I must not be a twue sub.

I love how mealy mouthed guys can be-he's asking you in third person if you liked being spammed by an idiot in fantasy land?

What's next-he invites you to "The Inn of mom's basement?"

DarlingSavage -> RE: What's up with that? (3/24/2010 9:07:01 PM)

I don't know, I just didn't like it. It made me laugh, I'll give it that much, but it makes me laugh even harder knowing that he's serious.

did you immediately take off your bra and panties?

UniqueRaven -> RE: What's up with that? (3/24/2010 9:11:27 PM)

You know, i love the pic animations in the "casual banter" section, but here where you're asking a question i'd like to seriously consider i find them really, really distracting. [:)]

Smutmonger -> RE: What's up with that? (3/24/2010 9:16:10 PM)

OP

I get the same reaction when some woman messages me here-expecting I'm going to immediately jump into a d/s thing with her. After all, I'm male, and every guy wants pussy, right? We can't control ourselves-pigs that we are.

Idiots are everywhere.

Oh, but of course! And instantly headed straight for my vibrator! LOL!

DarkSteven -> RE: What's up with that? (3/24/2010 9:17:22 PM)

This dude wishes to say to a girl that he finds Gorspeak contrived.

I'm sorry, I like to laugh and I wanted to be clear that I was very light-hearted about the topic, though I do indeed want to hear your input.
I'll refrain from the pictures.

This girl is most assured that Sir is absolutely correct on T/this, just as He is in A/all T/things for He is Master and therefore K/knows A/all!

LadyPact -> RE: What's up with that? (3/24/2010 9:27:55 PM)

A little variation on your question, if you don't mind.

I'm somewhat guilty of an association of this.  In the past couple of days on various threads, when speaking with a number of Dominants on the boards, I'll absolutely say something to the tune of, "I hope you and your girl are well".  I don't always use that person's name because I don't know exactly how they want it used.  It can also be a case of the person has more than one screen name in their history on CM, and I just plain don't want to screw it up.  LOL.

Thank you, i don't mean to seem high maintenance, hee hee! [:)] Just really can get overwhelmed sometimes, kind of a slave thing.

Honestly the whole "this girl" and "this slave" thing isn't just exclusive to those that identify with Gor - but it is presumptuous for someone to address you as such, especially if you don't identify as slave in your profile.

Honestly the only person i've ever seen carry it off with grace and style is beth, from mercnbeth - and i really think it is because of her identity, who she is, vs. something she's trying to "put on" for her Master.

i've been fortunate enough to never serve an Owner who requested i refer to myself as such - i realize the whole point is to remove my sense of self, but honestly most Owners and Masters who live and operate outside of the fantasy world desire a slave who is real, and confident, and has opinions and thoughts of her own - and wants her "self" along with everything else about her.

You did well to ignore and delete if i may say so. [:D]

Like you, i'm not into the Gorean way, but it's fine with me if it's Someone Else's philosophy. It is actually funny, though, that They think i could possibly take Them seriously when i don't even know Them. It's also kind of condescending and just a teensy bit irritating for Someone to expect that sort of instant submission from me when i have no idea Who They even are. It's not like Anyone can just capture me and expect me to obey. i am SO not impressed.[8|]

i see this as different though - my (future) Owner absolutely will refer to me as "His girl" or "His slave" - and it is nice when other Dom/mes acknowledge that as such (wonderful really). But me referring to myself as "this girl" or "this slave" in the 3rd person is different. [:)]

Edited for clarity

That's just weird. It seems presumptious to me, kind of like when someone emails and says "submit!" or some variation (like the lovely one I got earlier this week--"kneel and open your mouth"). Coming uninvited from a complete stranger, it just cracks me up, and I'm definitely laughing at him not with him.

I don't really see that as the same thing. I can certainly understand your concerns here for being respectful of identities and things like that. I was really referring to being addressed as such personally from a potential suitor in an initial email. However, thank you so much for your input! [:)]

I really see her as that way, also. I don't really have a problem with someone that addresses themself that way. As long as they are happy, more power to them! But I totally see your point from this aspect.

Ditto that, and I SO want to put up my laughing puppy, but I already promised UniqueRaven that I would refrain from my animated gifs for this. Well, saying that, see above.

Hello! Totally! OMG! I had this one that said, "I am pleasure, I am pain, I am love, I am Master." That alone right there still brings me to tears with laughter, poor guy! L the fucking OL right out of here! Then there was some long message after that and I can't remember what all was said, but it was fucking HILARIOUS!
