"Liked" is past tense, rml. As in, Obama's pals were once terrorists.

But all leftists have suddenly become thumb-sucking pacifists now, I'm sure.

Some of them, maybe. The Weather Underground liked to throw their bombs around though.

Wait, let me check my calendar.

Yep, just as I thought, it says 2010.

Maybe so.

I haven't seen any leftists throw around any bombs lately.

I have seen a few on the right though:

USATODAY.com - Rudolph, unsorry, gets life for abortion clinic bombing

Man arrested for bomb at Texas abortion clinic | Reuters

Responsibility claimed for abortion clinic bomb

Hmm... you didn't stop in to correct your statement? Still haven't heard about what I mentioned in my post? Convienient.

Just like the media didn't seem to want to report on the threats that Stupak was receiving when he was in opposition to the bill. I think the rhetoric and poliiticization of the threats is going to unfortunately fan the flames of the nuts on both sides and possibly spawn copycats. Hell, who cares about that when you can make a few bucks in campaign contributions....

I didn't hear about Cantor until this morning, but I responded about it in another thread along with the links.

According to the Richmond police it was a stray bullet fired in the air that just randomly hit Cantor's office as it was coming down.

Nothing to see here folks, move along.

Indeed, and there was no way for Cantor to know it was just some random coincidence at the time, he has been receiving threats for awhile for many reasons besides this bill.

As somebody else mentioned it is quite possible that a good wind broke the gasline on the other Congressman's brother's grill.

I am just sick of both sides trying to score political points with these obvious "nutjobs" acting out. Both sides have been pointing fingers, and it is bullshit.

Know what I mean?

Timothy McVeigh was a "frenzied nutjob", not a terrorist.  He murdered, got caught, and was executed.  Good riddance.

How is this any different from the shoe bomber or the underwear bomber?

They both were acting on their own but inspired by extremism.

Who said it was different?

You mean all those threats that he courageously refused to report or publicize because that would just encourage more threats?

Yes, maybe the Congressman passed wind.  So it might be his fault for not taking Beano before he grilled those jalapeno burgers.

Yes, I do.

But do you not see you are doing the same thing?

If these Democrats received serious threats they had every right to report it to protect themselves and their families.

Yet the Republicans, especially Cantor, are trying to make light of it and say those Democrats are spinning stories for political advantage.

Good, I'm glad you agree.

So we can conclude that terrorists are criminals and should be treated and tried as such, not prisoners of war.

Some are and some aren't. Depends on where they are caught and by whom.

lol... You didn't answer my question.

You can conclude whatever you'd like, just don't count me in without my consent.

What's always confused me here is how you can have prisoners of war without a formal declaration of war.

Me too, but we have been fighting something very similar to those war thingies without declarations for over half a century now. Odd ain't it?

Yes, but then it makes for legal situations such as we are still debating, as where terrorist trials should be held and under whose jurisdiction.

Which is why I answered the way I did above.

If the terrorist is caught on US soil by law enforcement, I think the proper venue is the civilian criminal courts... If a terrorist is caught elsewhere by military they are subject to those courts and processes. Jurisdiction has already been laid out by Congress.

I agree with most of this but I'd also say that a foreign national (especially a citizen of a nation we're at war with or one of their allies) caught on US soil might also be eligible for a military trial.
