ORIGINAL: Brain These teabaggers can't see the contradiction. They don't want government to help others but they want government to help them. Tea Party Backers Who Scorn Socialism Want Government Jobs Push Tea Party activists, who are becoming a force in U.S. politics, want the federal government out of their lives except when it comes to creating jobs. More than 90 percent of Tea Party backers interviewed in a new Bloomberg National Poll say the U.S. is verging more toward socialism than capitalism, the federal government is trying to control too many aspects of private life and more decisions should be made at the state level. At the same time, 70 percent of those who sympathize with the Tea Party, which organized protests this week against President Barack Obama’s health-care overhaul, want a federal government that fosters job creation. They also look to the government to rein in Wall Street, with almost half saying the government should do something about executive bonuses. Supporters are also conflicted over whether private-enterprise elements should be introduced into government programs like Social Security and Medicare. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aLBZwxqgYgwI&pos=8 Big surprise that a liberal reporter for a liberal news service doesn't see the difference between "fostering job growth" (i.e., making it attractive for businesses to expand) and a "government job". As for Medicare, premiums are paid and deductibles apply. As for Social Security, set up by government fiat to enable the government to take more money from people via taxes so that everyone would be cared for in their "golden years". Problem is that not enough people worked and paid into the system and the government used Social Security for years as their "fall-back" cash cow for other programs.
