Don't you find Obama's stance on what he wants to accomplish dominant in nature? It seems to me he says what he means, and then does it. He was willing to face the wrath (in it's many incarnations, at this point, from ridiculous to violent) for what he wanted to do.

He didn't lie (like W and the obfuscation created to engage in preventive war) to gain his objectives.

He went ahead with HCR saying voters can boot him if they want but he believes in what he's doing. His recent stance with regard to dissatisfaction and calls for repeal is, "bring it on."

He does and says things that are attacked daily (knowing they will be). He doesn't shirk from them. He's not a reed in the wind, he's self assured.

Whether you agree with what he says and does, it is rather Dominant, no?

Maybe newbie dom, since it took him a year to ram something home which wasn't as good or long as it should have been, after too long negotiation and compromise.

I discovered after reading an article about his law review days, its how Obama works. He listens, thinks, then suggests, trying to make peace. Guess he got tired of trying and decided.. fuck it!

I would say no, because he's too concerned about what other people think of him. He's nowhere near as bold as he talks, and that's not a quality I respect or trust in a dominant.

I'm a little troubled by the inference that one who is submissive by nature shirks from things...is a reed in the wind...and has no self assurance.
In addition I would point out it seems Pelosi needed to buck up President Obama and practically demand that he become more strident in his efforts for this bill....not to mention it didn't take a political science major to realise failure to secure this bill just might have ensured he was a one term Pres anyway....so I'm not so sure this wasn't a case of saving his Presidency rather than of risking it for what he believed in.

No implication should be assumed that ascribing dominant qualities (as they seem to me) are, by extension, lacking in submissives.

We can't but assume what Pelosi had to do with it. Neither you nor I were there. However, given the response, I wouldn't think Obama imagined his second presidency. Damn, he may not live that long. Still he did it.

Too often, he makes an unequivocal declaration and then backs off when the polls tell him that the public doesn't agree with him, or that it will be politically risky. He lays back and lets others debate the issue until he sees which way the opinion polls are going to break, then he designs his position to fit the polls. If he means it, he should stick to it, and if he doesn't mean it he shouldn't declare it as an absolute.

Say what you mean, mean what you say. That's a pretty damned good motto for a dominant, and that's not him.

The health care legislation was a long drawn out process that lacked leadership from the very beginning, and the resulting chaos has severely dragged down all the Democrats' poll numbers, including Obama's.

But besides giving birth to that monstrous pile of crap, whats has Obama done?

Lets look at his promises - Obama said:

He was going to close GITMO immediately upon assuming the presidency. Check?

We would be out of Iraq ASAP. Check?

Unemployment wouldn't go over 7%. Check?

He would govern as a post racial and a bipartisan president. Check?

All bills would be posted online for five days before he signed them. Check?

He would be fiscally responsible. Check?

The world would trust and respect the United States. Check?

Hmm. For a "Dom" he seems awfully dickless, and he vacations, parties, and otherwise fucks off a lot. He doesn't take care of business, doesn't seem to know what he's talking about most of the time when he's making all these wild promises of his, and he's losing both respect and popularity.

No, Domming doesn't really seem to be his strong suite. I'm thinkin' that Michelle wears the pants in his family, just like Hillary did with the Clintons.

All good subtee as far as the inference thing was concerned...and you are of course right we have no way of knowing for sure how much are how little Pelosi was responsible for "stiffening" his spine on this(and don't get me wrong I voted for him and still consider myself a supporter of his agenda)but now would you like to address my comments on the actual lack of any real risk here.....in other words if he had nothing to lose how and why should we be ascribing a "let the chips fall where they may" quality to him vis a vis the effect this would have on his be re-elected

How in the world do you imagine he has nothing to lose? He's risking his life? And have you heard mention of the "revolution" that will happen? Do you imagine that because he's passed HCR, he's on automatic-re-election?

Subtee I was of course referring to the political implications.....shit ,it could be said of every President that he is "risking his life".That decision is made when one decides to run.I do think you are misunderstanding my point....or I am doing a shit poor job of presenting it.....either way we seem to be talking about different things. ...sorry about that.
