Its going to have to be rationed, because there are finite resources. And the decisions as to where the axes fall will be medical decisions, made by far off bureaucrats.

And how is that any different from insurance company bureaucrats making those decisions?

In my opinion it will be better because you remove the profit motive.

You're not aware that this is just the first step? The Democrats have been pretty open about the fact that their goals don't stop with the legislation they just passed. And the welfare rollback under Clinton was an anomaly, forced through by Newt Gingrich, which this is the opposite direction of that, proving my point.

Entitlements are eating more and more of the budget and its literally breaking us. I'd be more amenable to all these free government cheese programs if we had the money but especially at this point we just don't.

I have a problem with this whole concept of "entitlements".

The government is funded by our tax dollars and in turn we expect certain services from the government.

The question is what services we get.  Do we want to continue to fund massive military spending or do want to provide basic social services that other countries take for granted?

Yes, I did.

I was re-opening the discussion and giving you my take on it.

I thought that was why you posted the thread, to hear other people's opinions.

Or was it just to impress us all with own amazing intellect?

How many times do you need to have something explained to you before you get it?

That always depends on who is doing the "explaining" doesn't it?
I mean if for instance you have a Nobel prize winner doing it...maybe just once...on the other hand if it is some guy wearing a Charlie Brown shirt hugging a tree.....than it will probably take repeated efforts.

You should listen to the brainiac more, mike. Its not my playful Charlie Brown shirt that sets your lower lip to quivering, or my massive woodie, is it. Its my callous disregard for your poor fragile little feelers.

You'll never be able to forgive me for telling you how ugly you are, will you.
