Settle down big guy, we're talking from different viewpoints. Superior means better, not stronger or more powerful. Prior to birth control being widely available, women were powerless simply because they spent most of their time pregnant and doing childcare. That's a fact. But it doesn't mean the man who got her pregnant was a better human being - smarter, better educated, less likely to be addicted to liquor etc. It just means he was physically stronger than her and able to do things she couldn't because she was pregnant, nursing, weakened from repeated childbearing etc.

And come the apocolypse, I alas, will not be claimed. I'm over the hill despite the fact that unlike the crones of old, I still have all my teeth!

In the phsical context I was talking about, 'superior' does mean bigger, stronger, faster etc. And not just because the females are allegedly all worn out popping babies....

Soooo, what's this semi-veiled dig about my brand spanking acrylic uppers? Coincidence orrr...? Cost me near 400 bucks - and no crone discount, dammit!

Focus.

Historically, in most cases that I'm aware of, the person who started out as the leader portioned out the food, and usually had some sort of command structure still in place, and punished anyone who stole more than their share. In an artificial situation like you describe, with a few people locked in a room or house knowing that there is no end in sight, no possible way that their nobility can allow everyone to survive, no leadership that everyone has already agreed to in place, it probably would be far more chaotic. Anyway, I still disagree that your scenario has anything to do with *consensual* D/s. Most people don't submit because they're starving to death or were physically overpowered, they submit because they trust the person/have chemistry with them/whatever. I doubt that you will have much luck in finding a woman to submit to you if your first date consists of kidnapping her and withholding food and beating her up. [;)]

Whether someone is submissive or dominant is down to the individual person, irrespective of gender, culture, lifestyle and behaviour. It's got a lot to do with how they relate to other people and how they feel most comfortable in their interactions with someone else on a more intimate level.

Kind of interesting to see how many here base their views on a generalization.

Michael3001 -> RE: Gender/Power Dynamics. (4/15/2010 8:09:20 PM)

There's no  research currently being conducted by molecular biologists to pinpoint a “rape gene. The appropriate place to publish scientific work, whether it's controversial or not, is in peer reviewed scientific journals. No credible biologist would ever advocate for something as wildly unscientific as a “rape gene.”  It’s actually pretty offensive to the molecular biology community to suggest that there is some elusive “rape gene” that they are ignoring.

Focus, I knew you were speaking of a limited scenario, I just didn't see how it applied to D/s in general. Since you apparently agree that it doesn't, we're all good.[:D]

Lol; k.... :-)

Being a D or s type has absolutely nothing to do with gender and all about personality and environmental factors.
