The drivers I've dealt with would have left a long time ago if someone pulled that kind of crap on them. OO's have more stress, but more flexibility. Try hitting up the load boards and seeing if someone needs a fleet driver or the like, reducing stress a bit may help with the smoking thing.

Decades ago I worked in a funeral home.  They have some pretty heavy duty deodorizers that they use to eliminate bad odors.  You might try something like this.

Edited to add:  After looking, it appears the company also has a deodorizer specifically for smoke.

I bet that was interesting work.  I was in an undertaker yahoo group for some years- then yahoo burped and it went poof.

Pretty cool tho.

Stephan, I would have left a long time ago, the thing is I'm also trying to get some longevity. This is my 4th company in a year & that usually doesn't go over well at other companies. I would love to go work with a very small company again 50 trucks or less, but they are harder & harder to find & now with the price of fuel going up again, alot of them will be closing the doors yet again as well. I do have a company that I'm interested in going to out of Chicago area, the thing is I have to figure out how to make a resume'. Though I'm going to call them 1st tomorrow before I even attempt it. If they won't even consider me with my job history & the fact that I have 2 log book tickets, then I'm not going to take the time to make a resume' since regular trucking companies don't ask for them.

I have absolutly zero advice on the smell thing....a misspent youth has led to a nose that can not really pick up scents.
What I do have is a shit load of well wishes on the quit thing....I myself have quit half a doxzen times over the last few years....lol
My next quit date is April 15th...tax day....the plan goes like this, everyone pays their taxes and I stop paying a voluntary tax....and just maybe live long enough to spoil my hoped for grandchildren [:)]
A word of advice on the quitting of the Chantix....I had 60 some odd days cig free last time out...somewhere along there,in the second month I quit the chantix...my insurance co. declined to pay for it...lol....well here I am again setting another date...don't stop the chantix too soon..the weird dreams(yeah, they seem to be in technicolor or something) are a small price to pay to get this monkey off your back....Good Luck [:)]

mike, 1st off, congrats to you & your son on his graduating next month (yep, I read the thread) I know you're a proud papa! My son is only 13, & I get to see him maybe 2x a year if I'm lucky, so when I was able to be there to see my son graduate from cub scouts to boy scouts I was definitely the proud mama!
As for quitting the Chantix, I am weaning myself off of it slowly, NOT an easy task, and it's at the point that it's tearing up my stomach. My stomach was totally on fire last night, tonight it's down to smoldering embers, but still on fire. I started taking it on 3/19 & with the way I'm weaning off of it, I will be taking it another 3 weeks or so, so I think that I will have a pretty good chance at the success rate. And I don't have insurance at all, so it cost me for 1 month of Chantix $145. Plus I have Restless Leg Syndrome, for 3 months of the GENERIC prescription for Requip $185. So trust me, I know what not having insurance is all about!

Ladi, I apologize.  I embedded a couple of links to the products in my comments, but I realize now that they didn't show up very well and I didn't underline them.

The name of the company is Imtek and their product is Smelleze.  Here is a link to their smoke deordorizer:

One reusable pouch (which should be more than sufficient for your rig) is $10.

Treasure, you have a very unusual past.

But I think I may get some of those. My son's best friend's father smokes like a chimney and he comes home from there with the smoke on his clothes and then I get a sinus infection from it. Little bowls of white vinegar work but are too easy to spill. The packet should be better.

PA... I was the office manager and was not directly involved in undertaking.  I did find the environment to be... creepy, at times.  Especially those evenings when I found myself alone in the funeral home... except for "clients".

I did learn a lot, though, and spoke extensively with the gentlemen who worked there.  Occasionally I'd have to venture into areas of the business where I was very uncomfortable, but that only reinforced my opinion that it takes a very special kind of person to work with death.

I came away from that job with a firm decision that I desire only the simplest cremation and no special services when I go.

eden910 -> RE: I quit smoking & need some help!!!! (4/12/2010 7:02:37 PM)

I was a smoker for waaaaay too long.  I made the change about 10 years ago.  You can do it.  It's the best thing you'll every do for yourself.  Don't back down, don't turn back.   You deserve it!
