of course a D doesnt need to be cruel and evil all the time. life is not an internet porn site. lol. :) not that there is anything wrong with porn.... but come on real life has to happen sometimes too. plus, if someone was mean all the time i would have issues trusting them to care about my well being once i was tied up and at their mercy.

OP, Actually I think clip and the guy whose post you said wasn't relevant at all hit the nail on the head. Not only is it not realistic to expect this, it's not fair to the Dominant. Only fanatics would expect it, regardless of what role you are in, you are still human. Everyone needs to be allowed to be what they are, have emotions, have down time, quiet time, etc. and yes, it would be exhausting. We are not roles, we are (hopefully) fully formed humans with a variety of attributes, moods, emotions and behaviors.

Dominants are dominants. An evil and cruel dominant does have a function, but I hope there are not many of them. Whether evil and cruel or not, the foremost qualities of a dominant are to be responsible and to protect.

~Fast Reply~ Cruel, evil, and degrading? Oh hell no! i've been in a relationship w/ the most loving Dominant ever imaginable, yet i knew He was in charge and our relationship had a D/s foundation to it. I quite like my man being cruel and evil at times. Other times I prefer him to be plain dominant. Other times I want the soft and sensuous side of him in the forefront. I wouldn't want any one activity ALL the time, it would become too much. That being said, I get what I am given, I can like it or lump it.
