In most cases, anyone who gives Me the impression that they were trying to set up a shot that looks like they were on break between scenes of a porno is an immediate turn off. I have no respect for that regardless of gender or role. If that's all they present, I'm not going to think any more of them than they do of themselves.

Lest we forget, peon took his lumps for a while there in the beginning. The reason he's done well here was because he stuck it out through that phase and proved he was more than a pretty backside.

To the OP: I'm aware I'm being kinda hypocritical here, but in order for me to be motivated enough to send a memo to someone when I was looking, there would *have* to be a face shot somewhere on the profile. I'm not bothered by back shots in general, but I'm not crazy excited by them either-faces are more important to me.

I didn't realise that that back-shot was the cause of grief for me, LP. I didn't look at any other subs' pictures - I just put in a pic that I thought was the male equivalent of most of the female profile pics. This is a 'sexy' website - that's what I thought I had to do in order to 'compete'. And I did think that femdoms would be wired differently to vanilla women on this subject (though I know now that that was a naive belief).

I do think that there's a massive gender divide on this issue. Perhaps (cf BoyBlue's thread) it does has something to do with men being sexually more visual than women. But I also think that women can feel offended by male nakedness to a degree that just baffles men.

What's the root of that feeling of being offended? No doubt there are centuries of cultural attitudes behind it. But beneath all that, I have this little hypothesis that it's got a lot do with the fact that a naked male can feel threatening to women; whereas the sight of a naked female never is to men. If you, as a man, remove that threat by showing that you're balanced, in control of yourself and basically safe - everything changes.

Just a bit of cod-psychology on the back of a bad night's sleep, no more.

I don't find male nudity to be threatening...lol. For me, leaving something to the imagination has more aesthetic appeal. I find tasteful nudity quite attractive.

Unfortunately, many men do not understand the words 'tasteful nudity' and think that dominant women are wired similarly to themselves - that full on exposure is the key. I find that train of thought to be misguided.

Dominant women may have more testosterone than their vanilla counterparts, they may not, all women vary. However, I've always been more attracted to subtle hints of nudity rather than full-on, in-your-face, junk-shots. I enjoy what I call artistic nudity.

Now as far as the OP goes, I much prefer a face shot as the primary pic on a man's profile. Additional photos, if included, I enjoy subtle, tasteful nudity. Those who just bend over and show how big their anus is, I find tasteless and lacking any class. Same with those who feel the need to show themselves masturbating or measuring up next to a soda can - tasteless.

The reason I dislike those types of photos, is it seems to me, like those who are posing for them, are so self-absorbed and are only seeking kink encounters rather than emotional connections. I am not interested in persons who are that self-focused.

I'm not really attracted to them - but they are better than the cock shots that usually follow if the profile in question has multiple pictures.

My thought on the matter is this: If you have a profile up, then you are attempting to attract someone (for friends, or otherwise) and you should put your best foot forward, so to speak. If putting up an ass shot or a cock shot is "putting your best foot forward" then you had either better have one completely awesome profile otherwise, or you need some lessons in basic social skills. Someone who thinks that his ass/genitalia are his best features isn't someone I'm going to be remotely interested in. Someone who thinks that his ass/genitalia is all that I will be or should be interested in also isn't someone I'm going to be even a little bit interested in.

just an ass shot? not too appealing to me. but i do have a hard time resisting pictures of a man's actual back. i got a shot from a man not too long ago who was wearing shorts and no shirt. he was standing at a stove cooking and just had this gorgeous sculpted canvas of a back. just waiting for a mark. delicious.

in general, even the grossest depictions of bodies or nudity don't bother me; i rarely have a negative reaction. solely physical depictions that tell a story or that show a man's body in a perspective that appeals to me, i quite enjoy but they don't come along often. i guess it's the difference between a picture and photography. still, even a tasty photo is just a base pleasure. it has next to no bearing on whether i'll write back to a man more than to send a virtual wolf whistle.

I'll never forget the first edition of 'For Women' - a soft-porn mag for women that came out in the 1990's here in the UK. It was fascinating what kind of pictures the editors thought would 'work for women'. Lots of moody shadows in monochrome (no surprise there) - but, also, lots of men's backs and jacksies. Many of them looked like they were asleep on their stomachs. A few, to me, even looked like they could be dead.

Men and Women are hard-wired differently....

I don't know if I would call it a turn off....but it does make me instantly not interested in anything more than passing by the profile.

To me it's like a cock shot...it's like they are saying it's all they have to offer. If I have someone in my life they are going to have more than sex to offer. And they usually back up my theory by having either little or nothing on their profile, (like this is it, there's nothing more to me than "this") or it's all about what they want done to said body part.

There are some artful nude shots that are accompanied by and nice profile, those are great and I would still consider them....but when I open my home page and there is just this set of cheeks....spread...and a big "hole" in my face....I am so not interested...lol
