Too many don't begin to realize the potential fallout for their actions out here. Can anyone remember the post several years ago where some young Domme got her life raked over the coals? "They" (some mysterious gang of internet spies...lol) found out everything about her. Turned out she was a teacher? They sent her profile and posts to her employer, to the parents of her students, they did everything they could to make her life miserable and depending upon how you measure success I believe that they cost her everything.

She was a poster here, but it appears that she came to the attention of the people who did her in via Youtube.  Everything might have blown over, except that she talked to a few 4chan hacker celebrities as though they were dogshit (i.e. the way she talked to her clients).  In addition to hacking her school's web site and putting an infomercial about her side job on it, they reported her to the IRS, put a photo of her house on 4chan and other sites, and published her phone number and address, encouraging people in search of lulz to order pizzas to be delivered to her.

Every woman should read this link. Think about how much you disclose to people without really being able to trust them or how much you might inadvertently disclose out here or to others that could in fact come back and bite you in the ass.

I might bite you in the ass but no one would ever be none the wiser.

Holy hell...this is the scariest shit I've ever read. I can't believe this could happen to someone because they pissed off a couple of people from the Internet. It's not even about disclosing personal information. If someone wanted to get you, it doesn't seem like there is anything you could do to stop it. In light of this new information, I'd like to apologize to anyone I may have offended.

If I ever called you on your bullshit and embarrassed you to your online friends, then I am sorry.

If I was ever unnecessarily snarky or sarcastic, I promise it won't happen again.

If I ever disagree with your opinion in the future, I'll insist on giving you a chance to clarify your position, even if the thread drags on for 27 or 28 pages.

Jeff, those pictures you sent me...I promise I'll get them back.

Please, everyone accept my sincerest apologies.

I have three selves.  One is my kink self, DarkSteven.  One is my vanilla self.  And one is the self under which I do amateur standup.  I keep them separate for privacy.

There are probably a dozen on the forum who know my vanilla self and phone number.  I give that info out sparingly.

girlygurl -> RE: Personal Information Broadcasted (4/6/2010 10:43:31 PM)

I'll share some things with some people, but I'm not fond of putting myself out there so to speak as far as sharing every little detail. When I do share I tend to edit what I share. Just because I post something in the public forum doesn't mean it's the "whole" story.

I suppose it's subjective really.... I can view some information as too much, where as another feels comfortable sharing what I would call "very personal" information. I'm not talking phone numbers, addresses and such, I'm talking about person "stuff" that sometimes IMO shouldn't be shared with the world.

Thanks all for the input. Yeah that is some sick stuff people do to people. I don't post personal stuff very often, maybe in an explanation but even that is vague.

I see people post very personal stuff and my stomach tightens and it amazes me what people will post publically to strangers.

lusciouslips19 -> RE: Personal Information Broadcasted (4/7/2010 5:15:41 AM)

I am a pretty open person but I also protect myself. I dont give out my number or address. If meeting someone of the opposite sex, I dont even talk on the phone til after we meet if i hit it off with them. I wont IM, cam, or even give out my regular e-mail. We all do what makes us comfortable. And we take risks or not depending on our experience or lack there of.
