I don't know if it was so much the IQ plummeting as it was that I just didn't care as much. I could say any silly thing and hide behind the boobs. It was liberating. I know why the dumb blonde sings...

Seriously? Damn I gotta get me some huge boobs too. Bet they float well in deep water too [:D]

Yet another political post about supposition and speculation that simply inspires flippant humor about why.

How does one comment on another's pure speculation complete with all of the necessary strawmen ? You don't.

Check out Magnetar; they accounted for $40 billion of losses all by their lonesomes.  It was covered on This American Life this weekend, you can hear a free MP3 this evening.

"Bush & the Fed actually pushed Fannie and Freddie to raise more capital, guarantee bigger mortgages, and expand their portfolios in 2008."(Busted, Edmund L. Andrews)  Bush actually developed a no-money-down program, government sponsored program (American Dream Downpayment Fund).

The vast amount of bad loans were done by private companies, and the CDOs were made, bought, and sold by large banks and hedge funds.  And as noted in the Magnetar article, it was all legal.  There was practically no oversight by the SEC, regulation was relaxed over decades, and many of these idiots didn't understand their own products.

This American Life's done some great coverage on the mortgage meltdown, and it's nowhere near as simple as Frank, Sallie Mae, etc.

Okay, this is good for a laugh. You can't address anything that I wrote so you resort to this petty personal attack accusing me of doing what you are doing. Read what you write - you demanded I watch your indoctrination video rather than writing out your own thoughts, and then accuse me of "regurgitating" far right talking points after I took time out of my busy day to watch a significant portion of your little propaganda festival and write out my personal critique of it.

You're making no sense, and you still haven't addressed the major point I raised -  where do you think the evil subprime securities originated?

No, I thought you were smart enough to judge the material on its merits. Looks like I was wrong.

You can either choose to educate yourself as to the real causes of the financial collapse, or you can keep listening to the right-wing partisan sound bites, regurgitate them here, and then wonder why no one takes you seriously...up to you.

One of the things that I am learning the hard way about the CM political forums, is that there are a handfull of people who are so blinded by their political ideology that they no longer seek truth, answers or understanding concerning the complex problems facing this country. Instead, they need reasons to blame the other side and there is no productive discussion to be had with these people.

Sanity -> RE: Why is the Democratic Party worried? (4/11/2010 1:23:15 PM)

So all the news accounts were wrong, Bush didn't push to have Fannie and Freddie regulated as everyone reported, and there's a novel on sale by a far left author named Edmund L. Andrews (who incidentally works for the far left New York Times) that sets the record straight.

I suppose his book comes with a goofy soundtrack CD, kind of like brainiacs' hilarious episode of Frontline.

More swipes at me from the sidelines...  [:D]

My luxury condo in your head must have a jacuzzi, and at least five bedrooms.

About your angry post, though - you're the worst one here for that kind of behavior, and thornhappy isn't far behind you.

And doesn't that all sound just too damn familiar?  Isn't that whats going on now between politicians?  What I question (or think) is the politicians have a real agenda, right or wrong, for not wanting the other side to be heard or understood.  We the people just listen and pick a side and take on the role of a 'pitbull'.  We're just defending it all so loyally.

brainiacsub -> RE: Why is the Democratic Party worried? (4/11/2010 2:20:43 PM)

As I have said before (earlier in this thread, another thread?), our political system of election laws ensures that ideolgues from the left and right are selected during the Congressional primaries because only people who are registered as Democrat or Republican can vote. By the time we get to the general elections, Independents (who make up 40+ % of registerd voters and growing) have only to choose between the lesser of two evils. So our politicians reflect the rancor and discourse of those who elected them - the far left and the far right.

So our President, elected overwhelmingly by a centrist and moderate populace, has to govern in an atmosphere where the Congress is at the mercy of the most vocal and extreme among us. The CM forums are very much a reflection of that.

Musicmystery -> RE: Why is the Democratic Party worried? (4/11/2010 2:28:34 PM)

No. The CM forums is a microcosm of people believing what they're told on TV.

brainiacsub -> RE: Why is the Democratic Party worried? (4/11/2010 2:33:46 PM)

I agree, but so are the people who actually vote in the primaries. They are people who vote emotionally, based on supporting an ideology. Unfortunately, Beck and Limbaugh will do more to turn out voters for the midterms than any other motivation. It's rather unfortunate. If Independents could field a candidate, we would.

thornhappy -> RE: Why is the Democratic Party worried? (4/11/2010 6:38:15 PM)

If the NYTimes is such a far left publication, why did they beat the war drum so hard for OIF, why were there more positive stories and few negative stories about Bush compared to Gore in the election, and why did they break Whitewater (and flog it for 7 years), and flog all the other "-gates" that came to nothing?

They didn't cut the Clinton administration any slack; I remember plenty of negative coverage.

Simple answer thorn...they aren't.
Sanity is simply uber biased the other way and sees things thru eyes colored by that prism.

Jeffff -> RE: Why is the Democratic Party worried? (4/11/2010 7:02:06 PM)

Thorn you don't understand. Thinking isn't required here. If someone tells you theNYT is a liberal paper, you just agree and move on.

slvemike4u -> RE: Why is the Democratic Party worried? (4/11/2010 7:05:35 PM)

I couldn't start my day without the NYT's a paper that has acted as a New York lifeline while I serve out my exile in  the hinterlands of North Carolina....could any man suffer a fate worse than this [:)].

Jeffff -> RE: Why is the Democratic Party worried? (4/11/2010 7:07:30 PM)

You are a liberal fag!

Does North Carolina know this?

Someone should write them!

slvemike4u -> RE: Why is the Democratic Party worried? (4/11/2010 7:13:26 PM)

Shhh...you will blow my cover....and this after me buying a pickup with a Confederate decal and a gun rack....sshhh,dammit.

kittinSol -> RE: Why is the Democratic Party worried? (4/11/2010 7:18:36 PM)

Why is the Republican National Committee not worried?

slvemike4u -> RE: Why is the Democratic Party worried? (4/11/2010 7:28:50 PM)

Now we need to start discussing relative intelligence levels ? And that just might get contentious.
