Everyone in Chicago that is anyone in Chicago knows that nothing much worthwhile transpires south of cermak.

Hyde Park and maybe a few soul food eateries would be the exception.

Yeah- you are FULL of it big guy!

Nice try tho. lol

Thadius -> RE: US facing surge in rightwing extremists and militias (4/7/2010 5:42:43 PM)

LOL that is right the slider shop was a few blocks west... Harlem was the corner that 294 crossed over...

Honestly, I do miss some friends from back home, but I mainly miss the food.

Hell there used to be only 3 things to go north of Madison for. The old Chicago Stadium, Kingston Mines, and the beaches.

Nooo way. I've lived in Lincoln Park and Wicker Park and there is nothing better than knowing anything I could possibly imagine wanting to do would be within 8 blocks, at the most 16.

Well sure-- killing roaches is a past time there!!!!

Sanity -> RE: US facing surge in rightwing extremists and militias (4/7/2010 5:49:43 PM)

Aw, see there, you really are trying to play the victim. You hurl insults like the worst kind of troll but then an instant later you're daddys sweet little princess who's never done a thing wrong in all her cute, innocent little life.

Good luck with that...  [8|]

Thomas, I was the victim in your highlighted post. It happens to be the same post that I referenced as an example of your bullshit. None of these other posts you reference have anything to do with the one in bold. Even that one you have misrepresented.

Why can't you just admit that you were wrong here and apologize? I would forgive you. I am a "doggy, bitch, cunt, dog whore" that way. But no, you had to waste a bunch of time researching the threads to find posts of mine that you believe make you right.

(mmmm....FEMA death camps...)

I think both of the entrances to Brookfield Zoo were south of Cermak. Don't get me wrong I love the entire city, but my heart will always be on the southside, even with the craziness it encompasses.

Haha you haven't been to Wicker Park in a while I assume...it's all hipster now, but 10 or so years ago (god I feel old) it was like how 18th street is now...amazing artists, the best parties, tacos at 3 am and pepinos and corn sold on the streets.

God I'm homesick right now.

Yeah but that's in the suburbs...city zoo would be LP zoo.

I love the city too, my friend's band used to play a bunch of places on 26th street so I'm no way prejudiced against the south side but most of what I know and love was up north.

A decade too young?

Domken, his profile states age 37.     The world is a big place...

Fopr the school integration fights in Chicago? He's claiming there was significant violence around integration around 1980 which is when he would have been starting school. not 1966 when MLK marched here for integration of the schools but 14 years later.

Actually I googled it...the riots I was thinking of were in 68, which is 41 years ago...not sure if that's what Thadius was referring to though.

I was talking about the protests during the late 70s and early 80s. Here's a story from '81 talking about protests over integration...

You said you were kept out of school and I quote "because of the violence" not because of some people holding their kids out of school because they didn't want to be transferred. You exagerated and we both know it.

No worries. My sister married a Northsider- and you can imagine the idiosyncrasies.

The Northside has alot to do no doubt.

But one still can end up in the wrong turf and harmed- 2 blocks.     Price of living is alot higher on the Northside- so- it would have to be proportionally to the extra amenities.

DomKen -> RE: US facing surge in rightwing extremists and militias (4/7/2010 6:03:02 PM)

I've lived here a long time and have lived all over. Lived in Hyde Park when I was in college. Lived out by the jail for a while right after that. Moved in closer to the loop (south edge of chinatown technically but basically spitting distance of bridgeport), lived in Lioncoln Park, Uptown and for many years now have lived in Rogers Park which is simply the best place to live I've ever been.

I'm not saying there isn't racial issues here but I am saying Thadius's claims were bogus.

domiguy -> RE: US facing surge in rightwing extremists and militias (4/7/2010 6:03:37 PM)

I googled things to do North of cermak in Chicago....the food, outdoor cafes, lincoln park zoo, the beaches, Soldier Field, the bitches, Wrigley Field , the museums, boystown, the nightlife, planetarium, The taste, the people, the beer, the metro, all of the festivals,Navy pier, mag mile, the parades, ...(Shit, the south side doesn't even hold the Southside Irish parade anymore. Pussies!!!)

I googled things to do on the Southside of Chicago. Here is what I found....Fat chicks, get shot, buy drugs, look at guys in construction jackets, go see a Sox game and drink shitty beer.

pahunkboy -> RE: US facing surge in rightwing extremists and militias (4/7/2010 6:06:35 PM)

My first apartment was Division and the Kennedy.

Talk about -- a segmented area.  fancy one way- Cabrini Green few blocks.   I never decided if it was the best of both worlds or worse of both worlds. LOL
The view was spectacular tho. I loved to watch the lights on the Sears Tower..etc.
