I'll disagree a touch here. I'd suspect it's a continuous learning thing for all of us. I for one don't think I'll ever reach perfection.

I have to agree with Smutmonger here. From the types of questions I see in the forum the most difficult skill is the skill of communication. It seems that a great number of posts ask us to explain why a partner won't do, wants to do, can't do something or other, as if we are mind readers. Some even say they have talked to their partner about the problem with little results. So communication must be difficult for many.

Most difficult topping skill? I'd probably have to say decorative bondage as well. My idea of bondage is practical, not pretty. I honestly don't care if all of the knots are perfectly symmetrical or they are in an exactly line down the body. I can appreciate the beauty of rope work done by those who are that meticulous, but I just don't have the patience. My idea of rope is get the person bound so the main event can begin.

Food is about presentation. If you are spending a vast amount of time on learning decorative bondage when you could be learning about cooking and preparing food your priorities are really fucked up.

Who exactly benefits from decorative bondage?

Much like Lady Pact, I am all about the practicality not the presentation.

Based on my extensive time in the bdsm scene, I would have to say not being an idiot would be the hardest skill to learn.

A less sarcastic answer might be learning to top a person as an individual rather than thinking of them as universal targets.

And that is such an important skill. i hate it when i am in a session with a new Domme, and She seems to be going through a script that She has rehearsed 1,000 times before. Or expecting me to respond the same way her last sub did.

Every session should be new and different. If you treat each sub the same, you won't maximize the enjoyment of your time together (either yours, or the sub's).
