ZE,

do you have vegas in your kitchen and are you planning to EAT them?

LadiTrukDriver -> RE: Eating vegetables offers no help against cancer (4/11/2010 12:23:26 PM)

Ok, here's my thought. You found a worm in an ORGANIC apple, the worm was dead. Shouldn't the worm have lived? I mean it was a HEALTHY apple. Makes me think twice about organic as well LOL

If you mean veggies, yes I do and yes I am. What's your point? If you mean Vegas, no I'm not, all those poker chips would block me up ;o)

Another study paid for the by the big drug companies. They so hate healthy people.
I have a word for people who hate vegetables, Constipation.
It can be a hard life if you skip your greens.

That's another thing; you shit out most of the veggies... little absorbing of any nutrients going on.

Eat plenty of sat fat, and constipation usually isn't an issue, if it is, take magnesium (which we should be doing anyway, unless you have kidney disease).

To the authors of this flawed study, FUCK YOU!

Why not line a tube in with HFCS/MSG/GMO?

This is bad data.

Perhaps this science was done by the same people who pushed "global warming" on us?  Oh no...wait....that is not a politically correct statement...I'm sorry.

This is a bad time for this veggie thing to come up, because I just recently realigned my taste buds to enjoy cold (blanched) asparagus, added broccoli sprouts and the aforementioned cold asparagus to my salads and eat fresh tomatoes by the dozens each week. Given the study does NOT say these things increase cancer risk....we give this story a rating of "....Oh Well.....".

Look again, they don't say to stop eating veggies so feel free to enjoy them. The cold asparagus sounds yummy!

Oh yes Zephyr.....my point exactly. It doesn't say they CAUSE cancer....so ...eat up. I have to tell you....I was amazed how good the asparagus tastes blanched and cold. Tender but with a nice texture.....and very tasty.....almost potatoradishyleek-like....I'm still trying to figure it out.

Even if it did, well that's only one study, I would just shrug and keep on eating veggies. Thanks for the tip, I'm always searching for new ways to make salads and such exciting.

The reason I know it works is my aunt told me when I was 20.   When I was 40 I had to TELL HER.

You are what you eat.

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: Eating vegetables offers no help against cancer (4/11/2010 3:12:36 PM)

I eat a lot of fruit and nuts.....oh dear that ain't good [8D]

I'm interested in the reasons you're stating this.  As far as I can tell, the study appears legitimate within its scope, which is applicable specifically to neoplasia.  It is *not* claiming no benefit for overall and cardiovascular health.

Neoplasia is a fairly specific cellular pathology, and as such may not be as directly affected by micronutrient consumption.  These results do not greatly surprise me.  These results also don't justify ditching your healthy diet for junk food, but that's not what they're saying at all.

pahunkboy -> RE: Eating vegetables offers no help against cancer (4/11/2010 3:22:21 PM)

One has to be a chemist to shop-- where maybe 3% of the product is actually edible.
