Er, that's what I said in the post you answered: the D Day landings couldn't have taken place if the Russians hadn't already kicked the shit out of the Wehrmacht. 3 out of every 5 German troops killed during the second world war died in Russia, though the Soviets can't really claim any credit for the poor bastards who froze to death because Hitler thought that invading Russia in autumn was a good idea.

Actually the invasion started in June of 41.
Georgi Zhucov just kept them bussy on the road to Moscow so that they did not get there till December.
Remember also that the Russians were also fighting in the same snow.
