We are one of Natures miracles.

It is the circle of life.

Enjoy the ear worm!

From this Bear's opinion...that is a good thing.

sunshine miss,

I've changed a lot since coming here to the boards. I dropped my cholesterol 100 points, fell in lust with Ron and became a jaded, cynical slave whoe favorite response to the liars i've met on here is "go away!"

I also get out more.......and the meds in the jello help.

woot-woot

OK.

We all evolve, whether we admit it to ourselves, through interaction with other people. We are social creatures.

Sure, seeing the ideas and positions and opinions and reactions of all the people here and who have passed through creates a wide larger canvas of the world. Perception alone would have to grow.

I've come to know a number of different people here. I've met some, and respect quite a few. I like to see what other people think, and I even like the (respectful) disagreements, as it's useful to find out WHY other people feel as they do. At times, cogent arguments have even convinced me, and certainly some of my own positions have been sharpened when other noted weak points I had overlooked.

Besides, where else do Anteaters hang with dead rappers?

dovie -> RE: Have the boards changed you? (4/16/2010 8:39:51 AM)

Sorry about that sunshine,

Seriously then...of course I've learned since coming here, negative information is as good as positive information. One can define what one wants either way. Met a lot of great folks here and some not so great. Such is life off the boards as well.

I love the political threads cause they keep me up to date with the news and gives me a good snapshot of different perspectives.

And yes, I'm not here as much as before...I do get out a lot more.

peace to you,
dovie

So the question to you

Has being on the boards changed or refined some part of your personality?
No, not my personality.  Mere words by peeps I do not know, will not touch my personality.

Has it made a real difference in how you interact in the world around you (not just the boards)?   No, a cyber world will never affect how I interact in real life.

How? Is it a change you see for the better?

Can you give an example of something that has changed?

Are there things you've seen changes in other people that inspired or impressed you?
There have been discussion I have subscribed to only because the writing has made me think and ask more questions.
I appreciate the ability to hear others thoughts on written page and think through them in my own way.
Sometimes the thinking leads to questions of my dom
but other than that?  No.  The boards have not changed me.

Best,
sunshine

Your question makes me want to ask, does reading a book change you?  Any kind of book.

sunshinemiss -> RE: Have the boards changed you? (4/16/2010 8:27:27 PM)

Hello RS,

Sure, many books have changed me. Movies too. I often tell people that the movie "The Mission" changed my life, and it's true.

Books, sports, media, discussions, music, art - they make me re-evaluate, ponder, consider, act.

I'm not vain enough to think I have all the answers. Have you not had something amazing kind of smack you in the face? Even something mediocre? I read a book once where a character was talking about nail polish colors. After that, I started looking at the colors all around me. It was a short sentence in a pleasant little book... and it made me see the world in a whole new way. Doing improvisational exercises (based on things like Whose Line is it?) helped me to trust myself. Watching athletes gives me the courage to walk into a gym - they have focus... they focus on the action in the moment ... how could I NOT learn from these things?

Best,
sunshine

Thanks to moderatoreleven I learnt to keep my mouth shut and to seriously temper (and tamper with) my normal elocution. It was forced upon me, however, and I was mightily relieved when the insane restrictions she imposed on so many of us were lifted - she may have done a good job at moderating the boards, but on a human level, she sucked ass.

No kidding. The $#@^% banned me for quoting a fucking newspaper article!

Yup, I remember that ... definately smacked of insane.

(Good to see you btw)

Pirate

Good seein' you too, brother! Give A. a hug!

Reminds me on a book I got from my ex in 2005 I never even managed the first chapter (despite starting it about five times) as it is awful difficult written...so I thought I am smart and just buy it in german instead...and did not get any further either...can't believe that he swallows that stuff like newspaper articles...now when my studies are over end of may I will give it another go...maybe three years of studying enabled me finally to grasp that particular book [>:][>:][>:]

I'm sure many here can say they learned from the boards.
