Good drugs that didn't (end up eventually) affect(ing) my DNA.

$0.77 gallon gasoline

The Beatles

Jonny Carson

My Pinto station wagon (with "Mindblower" speakers)

Cars that cost $3,750.00 (brand new)...and weren't a Kia

TV that didn't require cable

Days that didn't require me to answer a call when I'm driving

Food that I wasn't afraid of

Certainty

Black balls - a peppermint candy that made your mouth go black.
The taste buds I had when i was young - everything tasted better.
Passionfruit ice cream (yes i know you can get it in NZ, but i don't live there)

otherwise, my life is so much better now than it was when i was younger.

Body On Tap shampoo...loved the smell.

Summer vacation...it used to last around 3 months.

Summer camp (way too old now, lol).

Sitting on the sidewalk playing jacks, during recess.

Playing on monkey bars and straight bars until my hands had calluses and blisters.  Elementary school was a very long time ago.

I miss having my hair so thick that my mother had to thin it down with special thinning shears, scissors that had teeth like a comb on one side that would only cut some of the hair.

I miss my hair being a natural sparkley blonde (mom's friends said it was like sunshine, or like sunshine reflecting off gold).  It's still natural, but a darker blonde.

I miss climbing trees, and sitting up there for half the day enjoying the peace and quiet.  Can't climb trees now, and I used to climb tall ones.

I miss flying kites on a beach.  Where I live now has nonstop mountains, and kite eating trees everywhere.

I miss certain events in the town I lived in before the two national disasters (both were floods).  A boy used to play a bagpipe in our parades, and he was good.  One of our churches had a choir...of bells...during the Christmas season.

I miss...when my son was a baby.  He was such a hyperactive *mother killer* that I didn't get to enjoy his infancy as much as I wished I had.

I miss my old college, and don't have the ability to attend one now.  Past chemos have made memorizing names and numbers/dates very difficult...so basically I miss the keen mind I used to have, because clearly I've lost it.

I miss putting coins in that machine at Gramans or whatever Chinese Theater (one with stars' handprints and footprints) that would inject plastic into a mold and make the animal I chose.  I especially miss the smell, warmth, and taking my fingernail to rub off the line where the molding halves came together.  Silly, I know.

I miss Lion Country Safari, and Marineland.

I miss seeing flowers called lanturnia as I walked through "downtown" with my mother when we lived in California, they were so beautiful.  And I miss all the butterfly bushes (buddleia) that grew all over another town in West Virginia I used to live in, the smell was amazing.  Planting either in my yard won't be anything like seeing these and enjoying them while I'm taking a stroll or shopping...for me, they kind of defined the city I was in.

I miss Griffith Park Zoo.  (There are no zoos near enough to where I live.)

Oh!  I miss restaurants that had giant logos outside or something quirky...like Little Sambos, Bob's Big Boy, and buildings that looked like weinermobiles, etc.  Theme restaurants, yanno?  One McDonald's in someplace like Chatsworth, CA had an area with...high stools that were saddles, and another in Glendale had a hot air balloon with McD characters that would do an animatronic spiel to entertain the kiddies and there was also a small free merry-go-round.  In WV, we had a drive-in 50's style restaurant that had girls on skates bringing a food tray, and attaching it to the car door's window.  (Ones who had ponytails and blew bubbles with gum were a delight to see, and so I tipped higher.)  Most of our restaurants and business have become generic boxes with different colors of paint...boring.

Oh, I miss small diners with flower boxes outside and a wishing fountain inside.  These were delightful.

:) I am a big believer in not growing up entirely. Red light, green light.. now that is a HOT game to pervert!!! Imagine a dominant partner behind you while you call out red light green light.. never knowing when they will get to you, or if they will just opt to grab you from behind disregarding all rules.
I love kid games..

Disco
Koogle Peanut Butter
50 cent cigarettes
full service gas stations (the kind where people actually came out and gassed up the car, checked the oil and water in the radiator and washed your windows)

naw you just don't know how to dance to country, its a skill one must learn from another who can.. (two-stepping anyone??)

as for what I miss.... the icecream truck that used to come to my grandma's house, but it was a real ice cream truck, brough the Chapman's ice-cream in the cardboard boxes right to the house, Raspberry Ripple.. that flavour is increasingly difficult to find in stores around here.. (Chapman's is Canadian with two little kids on the front of the box eating ice-cream.)

Disco sucked....no soul and no substance. Its passing into the dust-bin of history so quickly(not nearly quick enough for me) is testimony enough to its vapidness.

the major problems with country is #1: you have to be DRUNK to dance to it, understand it or otherwise cope with it. #2: they can't sing without  a twang to their voice (probably from years and years of alcohol abuse)

I'm no fan of country, classic rock is my thing...but country has a soul...and one can actually hear it in the music...as I said in a previous post disco lacked soul.....music without soul is......well shit,no sense beating around the bush...without soul it's simply disco!

Listening to Nat King Cole on the radio singing "Lazy crazy hazy days of summer" in June two weeks before school let out.
Schlitz beer in cans that required a "church key."
Having plenty of people around who wearn't pusseys like today.
Big powerful cars.
Jackie Gleason and Ed Sullivan.
