Forgot to mention that social security would be funded properly if they hadn't of been spending the money for other things over the past 50 years. That combined with 3 adjustments that I have seen personally, would permanently solve the social security funding problem.

When are you just going to admit it? The federal government is the problem, not the solution.

I don't think anyone cares about raising taxes on the rich for their personal income. We are talking about businesses, and corporations and taxes raised on them are only passed on to the consumer, you and I. There's a cartoon that has Obama throwing money around, and this guy says, "look, hes giving everyone money just like he said he would." Then his wife say, "yea, but it's your wallet he's using."

The "only" taxes would be for the military? You do realize that the military is the single biggest reason our spending is so high in the first place?

And you ask for better immigration enforcement - yet you don't provide funding for it. If we really sealed our border with Mexico, the expense for that effort would be larger than even our military spending!

Another great thing about returning to the Constitution and shutting down unconstitutional federal agencies and programs and transferring them to the states is that those people can be offered jobs in their respective state agencies at half their federal salaries. If they don't like it tough. Maybe it's time they join the real world where people actually get paid a reasonable salary.

The IRS could be shut down too, simply by having each state collect a percentage of your gross income and remitting it to the federal government. None of this crapola where people get deductions and exemptions, and all kinds of other loopholes, which now allows 47% of all households not to even pay federal taxes. Surprise surprise. This is one of the reasons we aren't collecting enough money. The other reason is that foreign employees making all our products don't pay u.s. income taxes. We have a black unemployment rate of 16% officially, unofficially prolly 18%. It's disgraceful that this government has chosen to create jobs for Mexico, and ignore our population.

Oh gimme a break. If it's a program that obviously saves us money, then yes it would be funded, but technically, since we already pay the military, they should be on the border, and the border patrol should be renamed and transferred to  the states interior enforcement. Each state could then fund their own enforcement agency. With fines on employers and corporations, it would be self funding.

Once you add in the total cost of Illegal aliens, from education, healthcare, food stamps, energy assistance, 2 meals a day at school, and all the lives that have been ruined by drug smugglers, and people who have been killed by Illegal aliens by crime and drunk driving, leaving their spouses and children dependent on the states, it runs into the half a trillion dollar range. A good fence only cost a few billion. By the way, China has a high tech fence to keep north koreans out, and obviously Israel has one. Fences do work. If you don't believe that then let's take down every back yard fence in America and the fence around the whitehouse.

Try using you brain once in a while to solve our problems, not just spend more taxpayer money.

Christmas was not terrible. GDP was up 5.6% in the fourth quarter.

Consumer spending is already up this year.

Reagan was saddeled with a democrat congress that he had to make a deal with the devil, to build up the devistated military under the buffoon peanut farmer idiot hunta (god Carter was and still is the biggest idiot that was ever was elected to a national office)... but despite the bludgeoning of the treasury by the democrat controlled house (yes the house ALWAYS controls the money...not presidents)...the unemployment figures dropped dramatically, and MORE REVENUE went to the treasury in taxes because of the incentives to the small business owners.... and that is a FACT!

Yet Bush I saw unemployment soar, and had to go back on his promise not to raise taxes.

I'm for some of the points buried in your tirade. But you're missing that massive government spending, like under Reagan (who quadrupled the national debt in just eight years, turning the U.S. from the world's largest creditor nation to the world's largest debtor nation), like under FDR (who eventually helped pull us out of the Great Depression), doesn't vanish--it goes back into the economy. That's the point of stimulus, like Obama's (which could have been better allocated, yes), during a recession.

We started making lots of stuff, paid for in Reagan dollars, and yup, that will artificially bring down unemployment, and put money in people's pockets, and create income to tax.

It is, however, not a sustainable model for the long term. We have to put back during prosperity--and no one wants to do that.

Regrettably economic decisions are not common sense or the economists-recommended solutions but largely politically motivated. The economists should be able to predict with good confidence how different tax solutions would affect the budgets, employment and the economic outlook in general. For example, flat tax solutions are practiced in Eastern Europe countries. In Russa introduction of flat tax (2001, 13%) on personal income substantially increased the tax revenue. VAT on imports produces lot of tax revenue in Europe. Combined with low business and capital gain tax, these two stimulate business activity. The negative side is the increased exploitation of the lower classes (billionaire class emerged very fast in Russia). Hard to tell without a detailed analysis what would happen in US if for example to introduce Flat tax/VAT solution. The total federal tax revenue would perhaps increase and IRS bureaucracy  could be scaled down substantially. On the negative side, it would shift pressure on low income earners who are impoverished already. Besides, the tax is not the main reason US companies move overseas, but the labor cost. The opposite solution would be to tax US rich really hard because this is where most of the wealth is. I guess enough money can be gained by the government to build low-income housing and to indefinitely extend unemployment payments. The worst solution is practiced now. It is the overspending and borrowing, both internationally and domestically. Obama projected trillion dollar deficits for years to come are not realistic. It can not be done as lending sources will dry out soon and just inflating the currency is worse compared to the tax increase.

Bush got us here. Now we have to back down from it again.

Granted, from $1.6 trillion to $1.3 trillion is not as much of a budget reduction as we'd like to see. But it's a start.

Borrow and spend while cutting taxes has been the Republican stance since Reagan. That also must stop. As long as people just take partisan swipes at each other administration after administration, yes, the problem will continue until we lose creditors.
