So a bunch of guys dress up army and act bravado.

Big deal.

We kill 24-7 in Iraq- 1.3 mil slaughtered- and now we are all scardy cat over a bunch of  guys hanging out.
War is peace- peace is war.

Now it is YOU that needs to read the link(s)

I dont know where you got your numbers pahunk, but they are wrong. The total Iraqi civilian casualties in Iraq, including those killed by military action and those thousands killed by the various insurgent groups in Iraq has hit 95,888 – 104,595, and that is an average from a number of sites.

However, if you want to see the total breakdown of how people are being killed in Iraq, I invite you to go tohere.

I don't see anything wrong with being prepared.

Because the actual truth is guns don't kill people. People kill people.

Prepared for what?

The Second Amendment - "a well regulated militia" - gives the States the right to pass laws that proscribe training by private militia if it is in the State's interest to prevent civic disorder.

Jeffff -> RE: America's New Kinder, Gentler Militia (4/15/2010 6:20:53 AM)

Ok let me rephrase.

I don't see anything wrong with a bunch of middle age guys humping through the woods on the weekend pretending to be soldiers.

It's not my thing, but in and of itself, who cares?

As an aside I would have a huge problem fucking with the 2nd amendment. It is one of the original bill of rights. Once you start messing around with one, what's to keep you from changing others?

It is a slippery slope.

I will now wait for Realone and PA to come and give a display, complete with links and graphs , how it is all an illusion.

pahunkboy -> RE: America's New Kinder, Gentler Militia (4/15/2010 6:50:40 AM)

I cant come the phone right now.

I am banging one of those army guys.

Graphs okay; links a pain in the ass :)

Anyway, a number of States have laws regulating militia. Some may be unconstitutional but some apparently are not.

Problem is that some militia may be seen as threatening to civil order with their Black heliocoptor rhetoric or at the very least culturally atavistic. And so all militia types are painted by that brush even though they may be engaged in a harmlessly silly attempt to express their machismo.

Bottom line is unregulated bands of armed men running about in the woods contribute to the general fear and anxiety of the wider public. I have no polls to cite but I would be interested to see any that reveal the public feels safer or views unregulated militia favorably.

Must you ruin the illusion?

However the state is to trump the fed- and the sheriff is the most powerful man in any given county.   That means militias are up the the sheriff - not the fed.

mnottertail -> RE: America's New Kinder, Gentler Militia (4/15/2010 10:22:09 AM)

That is in violation of the posse comitatus act, and we know how poorly some of you are doing with the constitution.

Ron

pahunkboy -> RE: America's New Kinder, Gentler Militia (4/15/2010 10:23:22 AM)

Nope.

Sheriff trumps posse.

mnottertail -> RE: America's New Kinder, Gentler Militia (4/15/2010 10:27:58 AM)

Does it ever bother you to be so ignorant of the basic grasp of the world?  I mean, how can you be proud of that?

Hi, my names hunkie, and I ain't got the brains of a fuckin' ice cube.

Cmon hunk.  You have stated repeatedly that basic laws are above your head, you haven't the understanding, yet you pontificate this turdjingle out here continuously.

If you were funny, that would provide some balm, but in fact, you're not.

well its always fun to ask really mundane super simplle questions like that to those who claim to have had legal traning.

You know just for shits and giggles.

Yes, when the Continent of America is in whole, set adrift in the ocean, and enters into international waters, we are all gonna be thankful we pored over those tomes.

Keep it up MR.

The goal is in sight- and that being Napoleonic law. Meaning EVERYTHING is illegal unless it is declared to be legal.   Brave new world for you. Agenda 21 will take you off 'your" farm- and put you in an urban center. for your security of course.

yeh most shithouse lawyers never heard of Saving to the Suitors.

rubber ducky

mnottertail -> RE: America's New Kinder, Gentler Militia (4/15/2010 10:53:37 AM)

and knowing that maritime claims can be brought in court for in personam damages has what fucking larger issue at hand?

Goddammit, you smash my boat on Ottertail Lake you fuckin Z A I am going to go on land and take your ass to court for damages, I ain't looking for Davy Jones to decide it.

Which is how the Exxon Valdez catastrophe was settled, on land because it happened in our territorial waters.

How the fuck does that mean anything more than it means?  It certainly has nothing to do with militias.

Real0ne -> RE: America's New Kinder, Gentler Militia (4/15/2010 10:57:19 AM)

some shithouse lawyer made an offhand comment.  I dont know who it was though.

mnottertail -> RE: America's New Kinder, Gentler Militia (4/15/2010 11:06:20 AM)

and you see the two as relevant to what the fuck?  Saving to the suitors is American Law, and deals within our territorial boundry waters and internal owned waters, now it may be that we have some agreement with canada and mexico regarding this, but saving the suitors is not shit in international waters.

So, I talked about the validity of understaning some maritime laws when we find ourselves adrift in international waters, and you bring up some bullshit about saving the suitors.

Thats why you aint ever going to grasp any concept placed before you, you can't apprehend the difference between an amoeba and a space station. (hint: you probably can never find a relation between the two, because one is metal, exists in space, and the other is alive, is a single celled organism,  and exists in fluid, but you can try, nobodies gonna buy it.)

Here's one for ya, Perry Mason.  Recently, China ran a ship aground on the great barrier reef, wasn't it?  Some lily pad at any rate, now........do you think that they are going to be out on a ship somewhere in the North Atlantic, with rum, yo hohoing and walking the plank, or they going to go to a nice warm terra firma courthouse and start ciphering the damages?
