TheHeretic -> President Obama comments on the Tea Party (4/15/2010 9:50:53 PM)

MIAMI – President Barack Obama said Thursday he's amused by the anti-tax tea party protests that have been taking place around Tax Day.

Obama told a fundraiser in Miami that he's cut taxes, contrary to the claims of protesters.

"You would think they'd be saying thank you," he said.

Obama makes light of anti-tax protests

If this is how our administration plans to wage the November campaign, they would do well to be more afraid of 1894 than 1994.

What remarkable arrogance and contempt.

Damm Rich I read the story, including Kaine's remarks....please point out the arrogance and contempt contained within these words......
DNC Chairman Tim Kaine spoke before Obama and delivered a sobering assessment of the party's chances in the November midterm elections, noting that the party in power traditionally sustains losses in the midterms.
"There are a lot of prognosticators who are saying this is going to be a very tough year for the Democrats," Kaine said.
"We sort of have to assume that we're running into a headwind," Kaine said, but he contended Democrats were accustomed to being underdogs.

Now I know you were referring to Obama specificlly with the "arrogence and cotempt" line...but I just don't see it.He was ,I would assume ,talking to a room full of Democrats...after all it was a fundraiser.I'm sure if he had been speaking to Tea Partiers directll he would have chosen more sober language....but the message might have well been the same.

Ok. He expects people to believe that?

slvemike4u -> RE: President Obama comments on the Tea Party (4/15/2010 10:22:50 PM)

Come on Rich the party in power traditionally loses seats during mid-terms...so Democrats,in their current position better damm well be accustomed to being underdogs and run as if.
Hell, haven't you ever heard the sporting advice to always compete as if you are losing...no matter the score?

TheHeretic -> RE: President Obama comments on the Tea Party (4/15/2010 10:39:12 PM)

And a pep rally speech doesn't have a bit of arrogance and contempt for the crowd to be worked???

Yes. The Dems should expect too lose some seats. The 40, Repubs need to regain control is the average, with a Pres. below 50% in the polls.

I have no way of knowing if the President's line was off the cuff, or scrolled up on TOTUS, but he threw red meat out for his opposition with it. This is going to get played like he said, "let them eat cake."

slvemike4u -> RE: President Obama comments on the Tea Party (4/15/2010 10:49:33 PM)

So be it...though I think that those who would read it as such would be predidposed to do so.

TheHeretic -> RE: President Obama comments on the Tea Party (4/15/2010 10:57:44 PM)

And those who see it as just fine might be predisposed the other way, perhaps? It is those who once believed in him that matter this fall.

Calling it a night. Have a good one.

Grasping at straws again. When the speaker is correct, there is no arrogance or contempt. You evidently need a party label to believe the facts and just can't stand a democrat cutting taxes for the middle class.

Yes, those under $250,000 a year,  (95% of wage earners) should be saying thank you and BTW nothing I've seen from the 'left' compars to the lies...outright lies from the Tea Partiers I saw on C-Span this AM.

MrRodgers, dont try to convince the neocons on these boards of the facts. They are too busy listening to the lies and bullshit spouted by Republican talking heads.

What's astounding is the level of cynicism with which they spout back the lies and bullshit.

And I would imagine they think the same thing of the left.

Obama's definitely raised taxes on smokers. His Obamacare bill requires the IRS to enforce his forced insurance scheme, which thats a tax. Cap and tax looks like its next on his agenda, and his spending policies are either going to break us as a nation through bankruptcy or he or someone else will have to raise taxes dramatically in the future to cover all his red ink.

So the Tea Partiers have very legitimate concerns, and pretending they don't is disingenuous.

Best learn to live with health care my friend it's here to stay and probably will morph into a much more comprehensive plan as we go down the road.Cap and tax is iffy at best.
While I would give you the "legitimate concerns" line I would qualify it with the question of where are the solutions....the partiers offer none. And I for one would not want to "own" some of their concerns which in my opinion come down to irrational fear and yes outright bigotry.(lets be clear here before the flamers come out....this is not meant to say all partiers are bigots...but it does seem clear there is a strong and vocal element contained with in this "movement" whose concerns seem less than "legitimate")

Sanity there is absolutely no federal compulsion to pay dime one of a cigarette tax,I'm a  smoker so I volunteer to pay that tax(though I am in the process of un-volunteering...wish me luck Sanity,I would like to be here a good long time to play with you ;-)

Please insert red text to follow my remarks on cigarette tax....not sure how I screwed it up....but the red is me(as if that wasn't clear) and cut and paste function didn't work...so please try to figure it out yourselves....sorry,LOL.

kittinSol -> RE: President Obama comments on the Tea Party (4/16/2010 4:52:19 AM)

pahunkboy -> RE: President Obama comments on the Tea Party (4/16/2010 5:08:19 AM)

Well then there is RFIDS being put into medications.  This to track the time you take them. Or - the time they leave your possession.  All in real time.

Im calling bullshit on this one, pahunk. Again, prove it or shut up about it, you have been going on and on about the RFIDs for a month now... and its a technology that has been FDA approved since before 2004.

Just another tin foil hat you decided to put on for the moment.
