He's clearly insane - hence though libel may be actionable in itself it would be more civilised to leave him to rant and dribble in a padded cell.

E

Sure why not.  Y'all (Empire) thru him in a cell in the 80s.   (Larouche)

Then someone made the mistake of letting the crazy bastard out.

PAHunk

I've just spent a little over a week mourning the death of Polish President Lech Kaczynski. This was a man who was instrumental to my own downfall as a playwright in Poland. This was a man who was responsible for the continuation of the persecution and stigmatization of Polish gays, lesbians and transsexuals. This was a man who was influential in the illegalization of BDSM activities. This was a man who, like me, achieved his success largely thanks to the Polish Solidarity movement. This was a man who believed in policies on the far right wing.

Queen Elizabeth II is one of the longest serving heads of state in the world.

Perhaps we would be better as a society if we didn't question how certain basic expressions of civility, culture and respect towards others affect our own 'position', self-interests or political beliefs but instead just recognized that we are all human beings and deserving, through being human, basic common courtesy and respect.

Except,

The blood of thousands of Americans were shed in two wars with Great Britian so that Americans no longer had to bow to Royals, especially the "fuckin Queen of England"

You have a phone??? Wow. I am amazed. I mean, I know they have them in Tashkent, but western Pennsylvania, well, I'm just stunned. I mean, last time I was in PA, the roads were so bad, I had to stick to 30KM/hr on the fuckin' Interstate between Pittsburgh and Erie. That's where the Army trains for arid mountain warfare.

You'd best go ask General RO about what you should do. He seems to have a better handle in the "Strategic Vision" department than you. Sorry, man, but it's your lot in life to do KP.

The Japanese bow all the time, especially to those with a position of power. Deep bows, deeper than what Obama has ever done. And the Japanese aren't throwing a fits over what their emperor bows too, or the angle of the bows. Seriously, why are people making a big deal out of this?

Because Obama bowed low and the Emperor didn't.

Bowing that low is what someone of lower status does, it's not a sign of respect between equals but a display of inferiority.

Nixon did it right, see how they both bowed at the same angle:

Obama really did look weird doing that.

ETA:

"This photo will get Democrat President Obama a lot of approving nods in Japan this weekend, especially among the older generation of Japanese who still pay attention to the royal family living in its downtown castle. Very low bows like this are a sign of great respect and deference to a superior."

I see your point.   Tho when I think of all the blood in the hands of the Crown- I ... shudder.

Funny thing is that is no where near the appropriate bow british custom calls for and Michelle Obama completely failed to curtsy. IOW they did not go overboard and if the british press had wanted to they could have made quite a stink about the lack of courtesy shown.

Obama conducted himself pretty impressively while over here. I'm no fan of cheap soundbites such as "can we change?" etc.....but as politicians go he's pretty impressive. Charming/calm/professional/articulate.

Absolutely not.

He should have distracted her with a few pithy, baffling threats while Jimmy "The Mouth of the South" Hart came up behind her and drilled her with a folding chair.  Then, while casually pinning her with his size 12 Ferragamo tassel loafer, he should have called for the mic and announced "That's for Crispus Attucks, you sherry swilling crumpet muncher."  Hart should then have removed the crown from her head and placed it upon Obama's head so he could have followed Jerry Lawler and Harley Race as "King Barak Obama."

Sure he would've gone from a face to a heel, but he'd have been the first American President since Truman to hold both the Intercontinental Championship and the title of King.  He'd have been a lock to square up against Putin for the World Championship Belt and our retirement funds and oil supply would once again be safe.

LadyAngelika -> RE: Should Obama bow to the Queen? (4/18/2010 6:48:27 AM)

I believe that when we meet someone from another culture and offer a small gesture to show them that we are aware of their culture and respect it, only good things could happen.

From having travelled and met a lot of Americans travelling, I believe a great deal could learn a lot from their President.

Moonhead -> RE: Should Obama bow to the Queen? (4/18/2010 9:12:24 AM)

Sadly, Angelika, the Americans who most need to learn that are the ones who've spent the last year and a bit throwing a continual tantrum over there being a black Democrat with a professional qualification in the white house, and so are the last people who are going to pick up any tips on etiquette from the lad.
Pity, but there it is.

Ha ha.  If it helps, I very nearly went with Jim Cornette sneaking up on the Queen with his tennis racquet, but then I went with the more accessible references.  In retrospect, I feel like sort of a sellout.
