Shrugs, Just asking for a solid explanation with real science and engineering. To date, none has been given. A 3 hour burn brings 100 stories to the ground? How.

Oh bullshite.  Do you mean on these boards?  Plenty of reasons were given that are from science/engineering.

Check out http://www.fema.gov/rebuild/mat/wtcstudy.shtm - if you want the short story, read the executive summary.  For the details, check out chapter 2 for the collapse of WTC1 and 2, and chapter 5 for WTC 7.

No matter what proof is presented, RealOne, pahunk, and maybe Rule (sorry Rule, I can't remember off hand) will go on their merry way.

Personally, I have not made up my mind about aliens. I mean there are things from the ancient world that we cant duplicate now with our technology, maybe they had help.

Which things are these?

The stone work at Machu Picchu that have such close tolerances that you cant slip a piece of paper between the stones.

Ruins where stones are found to have areas carved out that have perfect right angles that have no rounded edges.

thompsonx -> RE: The inner worlds of conspiracy believers (4/22/2010 8:03:32 PM)

Both of those things can be duplicated with modern tools and with the ancient tools of the times.
Stone is made flat by dragging it.
Hagia Sophia, and similar large domed structures, we are told that no one knows how the domes were constucted.
How these domes and the pyramids were constructed are pretty well understood...that the popular myth is prepetuated with the television is ubiquitous.
I have heard the tale often that we can't make it like the ancients...so far I have not found anything that can't be made today with the same tools that the ancients used.

DYB, you have a couple people on here that "proof" is whatever the government says.

So that means there really were WMDs in iraq after all, the gulf of tonkin really was a vietnamese, never mind that we have the all the evidence to the contrary, and of course lets not forget kennedys uturn bullet, mcveighs bomb that blew nurrah from the inside out, the guv said its teu so damn it dats pwuf!!

Now if you read what thorny gave you and you have a physics background you will laugh your ass off.

Especially when you get to page 39 - 2 and you get to look at this wonderful mockery of anyone with any intelligence.

Only a propaganda whore would sink so low as to call this a fucking "collapse"  Buildings always "COLLAPSE" upwards then fly away from the building..  What a bunch of mega tards.

[image]http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o296/nine_one_one/2L.jpg[/image]

and they totally insult and mockery of anyone with even a tiny brain and this is right in the one thorny told you to look at

they blew that fucker all to hell and back.

They perimeter blasted exactly as the eye witnesses who were not paid off said they did.

Considering that no one has attempted to recreate these many wonders of the ancient world, who can say if we can do it or not. I think we would like to assume so, but there is an incredible precision in much of the stone work in ancient monuments that is astonishing.

This site has a lot of experts baffled as to how the interlocking blocks could have been created with so perfectly that paper cannot be slid between the blocks.  Can we do that these days?  I don't know.  How did they get something so huge and heavy to fit together like that?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ollantaytambo

Could we cut, dress and fit into place a huge stone block every nine seconds for twenty years?  That's what it would take to build the Great Pyramid.

Or what about these.http://www.redicecreations.com/article.php?id=3348

These chapels were cut out of solid stone.  Can we do that now?

The other thing that really baffles me about these ancient monuments is that according to our current world view of how humankind developed, these colossal structures were built by loosely knit tribal peoples that were primarily hunters and gatherers or just beginning to become farming cultures.  How is it possible that people of that type of social structure could gather together the resources to accomplish these amazing feats of architecture?  Somehow society devolved after these structures were built.

My personal belief is that at one time there was a very sophisticated civilization that sort of spread it's wings globally and created little pockets of civilization around the globe.   Whether this was just a natural evolution at it's peak, or whether there was alien intervention I still vacillate back and forth.  But some time after this culture reached it's peak I think the world was wracked with severe natural disasters over a long period of time and it caused this civilization to lose much of it's knowledge, for people to lose contact with one another and over time people devolved and then slowly began to rebuild.  I think the earliest civilizations we know of like Sumeria and Mesopotamia are the remnants of this old culture and that's why they had advanced knowledge.

But is that really a conspiracy theory?

Real0ne -> RE: The inner worlds of conspiracy believers (4/22/2010 8:31:56 PM)

teslas magnifying transmitter has been proven to work where he claimed under proper conditions would yield 1million horsepower for ever 10 horsepower input.

Cold fusion proven to work as well of course that is newer

then there is the self charging battery

there are shit loads of fun things that are not being produced because the patent buy outs are to lucrative and because it does not increase consumption and dependency, it promotes self sufficiency and therefore decreases commerce.

commerce is the culture killer

Equal bullshite, Read the report still doesn't deal in facts. Gives many "maybe's" and
"Could have's" The upper part of each did have a large amount of potential energy but much of that potential was blown away. Were the beams of the below floors designed to withstand that much kinetic energy? Who knows.....god knows that report doesn't say it.

Precision???
Houses are built to 1/8" precision.
Mobile homes are built to 1/16" precision.
Automobile engines are built to 1/1000" precision.
Hydraulic pumps are built to 1/10,000" precision.
A mirror finish on granit is achieved with grit in the 1000 mesh range.
The ability to polish stone to this degree has been with us for thousands of years.

I would like to check your math on that one

Or what about these.http://www.redicecreations.com/article.php?id=3348

These chapels were cut out of solid stone.  Can we do that now?

Your cite tells how it was done. Hammer and chisel

The other thing that really baffles me about these ancient monuments is that according to our current world view of how humankind developed, these colossal structures were built by loosely knit tribal peoples that were primarily hunters and gatherers or just beginning to become farming cultures.

b
Both of the above cites state that that is wrong. The one in Africa was the 4th.century ...surely you do not consider the Egyptians of the 2nd century BC to be hunter gathereres?
The South American site dates from the 15th century again hardly hunter gatherers

How is it possible that people of that type of social structure could gather together the resources to accomplish these amazing feats of architecture?  Somehow society devolved after these structures were built.

I can only sugest that you read a little more history and a little less Von Daniken

TNstepsout -> RE: The inner worlds of conspiracy believers (4/23/2010 3:00:12 PM)

Thompsonx I can't pick out all the quotes within quotes, but you are comparing completely different materials. It's not that difficult to get precision with manageable materials like lumber and sheet metal.  We're talking about blocks of stone that weighed many tons each.  Is there anyone out there building precision buildings with huge blocks of stone that we can compare?  I don't know.

No I do  not consider the Egyptians to be hunters and gatherers.  I was considering cites like Stonehenge and some of those in South America and such.  Most ancient cites are in areas in which we have little knowledge of "civilization" having existed and no modern descendant. But where did the Egyptian civilization come from?  We have a little bit of history of northern and southern people who fought with each other until one of them won and suddenly we have amazing monumental artifacts being built. In terms of human evolution is was quite fast.  AND where were the predecessors of the Sumerian civilization?

Sure, maybe it was chisels, and maybe it wasn't. Is anyone out there chiseling out huge blocks of stone to make buildings inside them.  Has anyone tried to see if it can be done?  I know this site is later, but Ethiopia has a history that alludes to the possibility that some ancient knowledge made it's way there.

You're absolutely right on the math, my bad, I got it wrong.  It is actually every nine MINUTES, not nine seconds. I guess it's completely plausible that a 2 to 2.5 TON block of stone can be cute, dressed and hauled into place every nine minutes, 24 hours a day for 20 years.  So sorry.

I've read both history and Von Daniken and many other writers and I keep an open mind to both.  I believe there is extensive reason to think there was some kind of earlier civilization and that they had some technology that we are not yet aware of.  A lot of knowledge was lost and then found again.  Whose to say there isn't still more out there waiting to be found?

All I'm saying is keep an open mind and a critical eye. Somewhere between complete outlandish hogwash, and strict dogmatic teaching is the truth.

Actually, I would probably think that they either got bored with this board and moved elsewhere, OR they finally flipped out completely and were being held in a mental institution.

I deplore your vicious and malicious denigrating attitude.

I deplore how this forum has been hijacked from being about politics and religion by certain people insistent on turning every subject into a conspiracy drama.

But I'm sure you're right about David Carradine.  He was silenced because of his advanced knowledge of the Kung Fu arts and also because he was circumcised.

I've been called worse. Still, the question remains and no one ever gives an explanation except....sort on the lines of TN above.

There were many, many explanations given here, by those qualified to provide those explanations.

But they go unheeded by those who have so much invested in their own baseless theories of a grand government conspiracy.

so you think you have the qualifications then to determine who is and who is not qualified and the only one of course in YOUR mind that is qualified is the guv and everyone else you can find some excuse real or imagined to dismiss them huh?

SohCahToa -> RE: The inner worlds of conspiracy believers (4/23/2010 4:20:33 PM)

The problem with conspiracy theorists is that they are detached from reality, we know this and still we try to bring them back to reality.

When someone is prepared to believe up is down then there isn't much that'll convince them otherwise. Sensible people look for the most likely explanation not the most outlandish one.

No, I have the qualifications to determine that someone is full of shit when they try to pretend to be an architect, an engineer, a physicist, an attorney, and all of the many other fields you claim expertise in.

If I were an accountant I'd want to be anything but.

Some choose high pay over a sense of achievement, could have been this, could have been that, too late you chose to count beans all day instead.

Now they are living their second or third profession via the internet[:D]
