That may be--but as I said before, it presupposes a rather weak-minded viewing public, and it's still in front of us, not subliminal.

I'm quite capable of deciding "I don't need that." So are others. And when they purchase anyway, it speaks to a person's desire to have it all, not to the magic of brainwashing. Hell, even outright propaganda has never worked that well.

But people are blending "subliminal" with "theme," and were that the case, all literature would be seditious.

It's not hidden. We're meant to see it and understand it. And then, sure, purchase it if needed or wanted.

MM is soon to be placed in Agenda 21.  lol

Musicmystery -> RE: Behavior Placement (4/18/2010 10:48:40 AM)

pahb,

1) First have a thought,
2) THEN post.

pahunkboy -> RE: Behavior Placement (4/18/2010 10:50:47 AM)

Although, I'll have to agree with LadyE, the conspiracy theorists have transformed the boards in much less inviting and entertaining place.

It's not even that--a thread here for this one, another for that one, fine.

Instead, it's the same people endlessly selling the same silly conspiracies regardless of the topic, thread after thread after thread. You could start talking about Nepalese prayer wheels, and in no time, it would be about conspiracies.

Imagine reading several books, but all the pages are mixed together.

All of them would become meaningless. That's what you do to the boards.

LadyEllen -> RE: Behavior Placement (4/18/2010 10:55:18 AM)

Do you have any real idea what Agenda 21 is? Its not a secret conspiracy or anything - which sort of makes me wonder what your interest might be - its a UN programme.

Mind you, I'm surprised on two counts you havent realised 21 might be interpreted as BA, the first and last letters in the president's name...... now there's something to drop into the mix (mess)............

I agree ... not subliminal but a sucessful strategy. Witness the "first adopters" strategy used by Apple for ipod, iphone and ipad. Be the first kid on your block to own one even if it is still riddled with gliches. Stand in line all night waiting for the store to open its doors. Sure it's a chore but think of the status, omg! Run out grinning and waving the product high to the envy of the crowd and the TV viewers.

Right.. not subliminal and not brainwashing ... but marketing strategy, ya think?

Agenda 21 is a scam. One of many.  And many buy its supposed benefits.  But people like MM would lose his land and be forced to live in a dense city.

And there's nothing pernicious nor improper about marketing strategy.

Again,

quote:

Unlike with product placement, which can seem jarring to savvy viewers, the goal is that viewers won't really notice that Tina Fey is tossing a plastic bottle into the recycle bin, or that a minor character on "Law and Order: SVU" has switched to energy-saving light bulbs. "People don't want to be hit over the head with it," says NBC Universal Chief Executive Jeff Zucker. "Putting it in programing is what makes it resonate with viewers."

If you're not supposed to be aware of it on a conscience level, its meant to be subliminal.

Main Entry: sub·lim·i·nal

Pronunciation: \(ˌ)sə-ˈbli-mə-nəl\Function: adjective
Etymology: sub- + Latin limin-, limen threshold
Date: 1886

1 : inadequate to produce a sensation or a perception

2 : existing or functioning below the threshold of consciousness <the subliminal mind> <subliminal advertising>— sub·lim·i·nal·ly adverb

Musicmystery -> RE: Behavior Placement (4/18/2010 11:24:56 AM)

Again, that doesn't rise to subliminal--it's right in front of us.

We are quite conscious of the displayed activity. People will approve or not. At most, it will remind people. It's not that we'll have a subconscious need to get up in the middle of the night and recycle.

Seriously--do you think watching NBC will make you recycle?

Sanity -> RE: Behavior Placement (4/18/2010 11:42:57 AM)

Everything thats subliminal happens right in front of you, what makes it subliminal is that you don't consciously notice it.

And please, the discussion isn't focused only on General Electric and their line of green products, it also has to do with John Wayne smoking a real man's cigarette or Capn' Crunch or Sugar Bear interrupting a cartoon with the nutritious way that heroes start their day.

OK, but if we adopt your interpretation of "subliminal," then most of what happens is subliminal.

Virtually everything.

We hardly even need a separate word for it.

Sanity -> RE: Behavior Placement (4/18/2010 11:53:39 AM)

A lot of it is, we are creatures who depend on subconsciously reading steady streams of ever-so-subtle cues which help get through our day, and the powers that be are researching all the different ways to harness such control over us and our behaviors. First it was cigarettes and happy meals, but thats just childs play.

This is just the beginning, and the more awareness we develop to this as individuals the better.

Once again I didnt read all the replies but like Ted Turner told some talk show host, forget which one a few years back that Branson wasnt investing billion of bucks into green because he gives a shit but becuase it is the best business right now.

Most of the corporate 'green' isnt even fucking green at all. Fucks. Die stupid evilly motivated corporations, fucking die you turds and take you unconscious demanding masses halfwit so called humans with you.

Your post reminded me of another thread I started, not so long ago - the bottom line was, the Energy Star rating doesn't mean shit.

I get a kick too out of "All Natural."

Arsenic is all natural. So is leather. I'm not going to eat either.

pyroaquatic -> RE: Behavior Placement (4/18/2010 12:45:47 PM)

AH THE INFRASTRUCTURE!

After that outburst I will tell you our little country has some idiosyncrasies. Do you think people still will throw garbage out the window of a moving car?

How about plastic water bottles?

So these little actions the actors portray are supposed to sway the public at bay?

If the public is swayed what other messages could you put in front of the television? YOU MUST BUY THIS TODAY!

Musicmystery -> RE: Behavior Placement (4/18/2010 12:53:40 PM)

People throw trash, bottles and cans out their windows everyday.

I have to do a pick up before mowing the grass along the roadside.

No power known to man is going to change them.

pahunkboy -> RE: Behavior Placement (4/18/2010 12:57:14 PM)

People are slobs.  Litter is thrown out on my yard too- and I then must pick it up.
