Susan G. Komen for the Cure has now crossed the line into asinine idiocy thanks to its new alliance with Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), where pink buckets of fried chicken are sold under the slogan, "Buckets for the Cure."

The FTC, Department of Justice, state-worshiping debunkers, and mainstream investigative media seem predictably quiet.

As long as a pink ribbon helps sell their shit, they'll stick it on there [>:] . There has been a plethora of similar cases, but I must admit that the Kentucky Fried Rat thing really takes the biscuit.

and?    I don't get anything out of his blathering except he doesn't like Susan Komen.

tazzygirl -> RE: The Height of Absurdity (4/22/2010 8:25:31 AM)

I guess they missed the bucket of grilled chicken in the ad.

once again,  AND?  Is there a point in there besides the fact that he personally doesn't like Susan Komen?

Silence8 -> RE: The Height of Absurdity (4/22/2010 8:37:29 AM)

Priceless. Keep it up.

Ah, laughter feels so good.

I'm serious. You're doing wonders for my health.

It's like a weight's lifted.

The only true way to deal with reality is through laughter.

With all due respect, if the points in his article didn't appear to you, repeating his points here is very unlikely to change that.

Seriously, check the official pink KFC bucket website and tell me that you don't see the cynical evil behind it rofl?!!!

It's like Marlboro backing up the Leukemia Foundation.

Same to you.

Maybe you should retreat to your usual asinine argument, now in religious form -- oh, you haven't read every word of the Bible (replaced: Healthcare Bill), how do you really know it's so bad? Oh, you don't have a doctorate in health-whatever-ology, how do you know KFC will kill you? Oh, you think it's funny that an overweight guy doesn't understand this post, how do you he's not wearing a fat-man suit?

Okay, this response was too strong.

Keep the jokes, just subtract out the anger.

As you pointed out the chicken in the ad was grilled.  the Koman group slaps the ribbon on the bucket to try and raise money, KFC has been using the ads and mention of it to push their new grilled chicken.

Other than the fact the writer of the "opinion" piece has an obvious dislike for Susan Koman I fail to see the point.

Don't you just love when people post links and then can't give you their reason for it.

There was an article a while back in the New England Journal of Medicine (which I can't claim to read with any frequency) showing how health insurance companies were investing millions in big tobacco.

This is why, when people say 'Capitalism is evil', they're really not just jealous of your stupid possessions (not you personally, the universal 'you').

xbrand -> RE: The Height of Absurdity (4/22/2010 8:58:06 AM)

It's called 'MARKETING'...there are no sides to this...they have found another gimmick to sell their stuff. Simple as that. All this name bashing, CMers are so eloquent at, serves little if anything at all, to understanding the issues.

Kentucky Fried Rat's food is full, and I mean full, of MSG. I don't even want to know what kind of chicken parts go into their nuggets. And from the Pink Bucket Link I copied above: "Participating KFC franchise locations will be selling specially designed pink buckets of grilled and Original Recipe chicken." They're not just promoting the "healthier" shit. They're raking in as much as they can.

This is just another cynical way for a company that sells crap to make more money under the umbrella that they're somehow being altruistic and concerned about a fatal ailment. But hey, if people want to feed themselves with shit, all the more power to them [8|] .

Again, your assumptions are overreaching. I never said KFC would kill you, Never said it wont. Fed to lab rats? yeah, we know how much those rats love a steady, human dose of chemicals. Give them a rat dose and lets see how much cancer is caused.

And, nope, i dont have a doctorate in anything. i dont need one to state an opinion. i also see no need to take pot shots at posters simply because im having a fucked up day (see your previous post).
