So your proposal to what direction to take is to point out that different approaches have problems? This is known. It dodges the question.

And why would drivers suffer so much as you claim without the relatively tiny percentage off shore drilling adds to supply?

Finally--what pronoun do you propose instead of "we" when speaking about one's country from the standpoint of a citizen of that country?

When you're done--see if you have any actual positions to present.

1.) Gas has already risen by a few cents here in Florida. It will continue to climb (summer). The spill also affects every citizen in the states. The cost of living is directly related to gas.

Florida is a giant sandbar and already below sea level.
The same goes for all of those connected to the gulf. Many creatures and plants (that hold and retain soil) are going to die.

Despite your fact that offshore drilling contributes to a small percentage...
There will be a public reaction. The face of oil has changed. It is not fun when you have to spend massive amounts of money for to fix 'little' leak. That small percentage is a BIG problem.

Finally... you must have not read the <SARCASM> on my post. I catch hell from people saying 'We the People' is bollocks (just one).

Watch for Bicyclists please.

If they were so unreliable there would be wells spewing all over the place.

They cause about 1 hour of downtime per day installed due to failures.
http://www.mms.gov/tarprojects/319/319AA.pdf

Note that the report also shows that many failures were repaired while drilling continued. That's a lot of time (more than 4%) when the BOP was either non functional or operating at less than optimum.

So you pulled up a 10 year old report.

I'll say again if they were so unreliable there would be wells spewing oil every other day.

Again, you are repeating the obvious.

If your position, then, is that oil spills are bad, I don't think you'll find that controversial.

Oil is not BAD or GOOD. It is just something we have to endure. There is a silver lining in this 'cloud'.

Perhaps employment to clean up the stupidity of society.

Of course there will be changes. Can you say 'bike lane only'?

RandomPerson: But Pyroaquatic... people still NEED Gas.

Take the bus that runs on bio-diesel then.

Take a Train.

The Point is we have to change our conscious thoughts away from reliance upon the 'only thing that works'.

Multiple Systems in span and depth need to exist mutually within the environment. Ethics also plays a part here.

A System must have an affinity for other Systems.

Upon my observational skills I can tell you that is not the case here. The Systems fight each other.

Look at any topic in politics and religion. It is a grueling duel and it should not be this way (but is and oh my that may never change).

Do you understand?

It will require some kind of populist movement for this to happen, b/c its not coming from the political establishment.

Thank You.

We have heard information that this explosion was deliberately initiated by a party interested in sabotaging further oil exploration in the gulf of mexico...they deliberately chose a platform that was off the contiental shelf and with a well head too deep to have the blow out preventer valves actuated by divers..... if this is proven, then the impact on the 'enviromental terriorist' will be absolute.... Put nothing past the will of the communist leftwing to destroy the American free enterprise system..... we are on a march to a civil war, and I sense it all coming to a head soon..... god help us...

Looks like you had BAD INFORMATION.
