Well Taleon, I agree that this mostly is a group of wannabe leaders, and not a country nor the entire sect. They want, are looking for, ANY reason to throw the world into a bloody conflict. Drag the rest of their guys with it, they don't care. Nut cases are everywhere.

Responsibility ...ah yes.....the program chiefs, review each show piror to being aired, every network, media business, any business for that matter, reviews and edits what is proposed to be presented to the public. S.P. KNEW that these episodes would cause a stir...so they decided to ...GO, send it up the flagpole and see who salutes.

Someone saluted, and the suits recanted their decision to go...to keep this group from stirring the pot further, taking action that would possibly harm people and destroy property. So hateful must have been the salute.

You all claim it was coward to bow to the threats of this group. S.P. got what they wanted, noticed, publicity......it's called marketing. Now people are talking about the show, reviving the popularity, selling more toys, figurines, etc. It was a calculated ploy. However...the ploy COULD have brought dire results.....but what the hell, the results...if it makes money. Right.

And for what...a trash TV show, poorly, really poorly animated.....people could have died because of S.P's little game.

xBrand, you're missing the whole point, you don't back down from Evil!

Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke!

xbrand -> RE: Free Speech on "South Park"? (4/28/2010 9:09:19 AM)

No Popeye, I have not missed the point. One should not back down from evil.....okay. However, the 'evil' was on the part of S.P.; in that, they all decided to stir up the boiler pot, generate some publicity, get the people talking about the show, raise the show's visability ratings, get the big bucks flowing, get the ratings up.

The S.P crew went for the spectacular....knowing all the while, these Big M. believers do not tolerate such slanders, jokes, etc.; not even true historic facts if it opposes Big.M's holy spot. And the S.P. crew did it to raise their paychecks. Irregardless of whatever the fallout may be.

The 'fallout', evidently, was rather more than the S.P. crew had anticipated. So, they did what they did...backed down. But, so what, it still achieved their goal.....get people talking, get the ratings up, more visability for the show, thereby...going to the networks...hey, we want more moola.

Now, Mr. Popeye, take into regard, the dynamic tensions of this world, the hate, everyone looking for the slightest of reasons to vent their anger, hostilities, hatreds, frustrations, ....... you have the makings of a real bad day for everyone.

S.P. was irresponsible in their corporate decisions for...shall we say....greed's sake.

xbrand -> RE: Free Speech on "South Park"? (4/28/2010 9:13:13 AM)

Hey thishereboi, you are absolutely correct, I AM NOT A NAZI...as for being a bigot...well, maybe yes, maybe no, depending upon the shit you're smoking...but you said...you are not going to read my posts any how.

Does this mean...you are a liar?

There you have it: any reason. Today South Park, tomorrow they'll be upset about the fact that women can vote. We can't appease these people without throwing overboard a lot of rights we both (presumably) care about, so... why even bother this time around?

I simply don't know what drives the creators of South Park. Perhaps, it is the money. Or the fame. Or, they actually care about what they perceive is wrong in the world and use their humor to draw attention to it. Frankly, their motivations are irrelevant to me. What matters to me is that we seem to be overly eager to cater to people who seem to have so little respect for human rights.

Would it have been more palatable for you if it was better animated? In any event, South Park is not to blame here. You can't ask them to be diplomatic, in the same way I can't ask a Hells Angels' member to wear a three-piece suit. Ok, that analogy breaks down. But the point is: South Park does what it does, and that's to make fun of everything it wants to make fun about. And that's perfectly fine with me, because as a society we seem (or at least used) to value such a freedom a lot.

You have demanded your right to speak your opinion on this thread.
S&P demanded their right to speak their opinion on the airwaves.
Here no one offered to murder you for your opinion.
If I were S&P I would go visit those who threatened to murder me.
I would slit their throats and burn their house down with them and their whole fucking clan in it.
Then I would sit in the smoldering ashes and broadcast my video and wait for the next asshole to threaten to murder me.
But then I take a very dim view of people threatning to murder me for my opinions.

You're forgetting John Wilkes. I thought he was big in America?

John Wilkes or John Wilkes Booth.
The former was a Britt.
The later an American.

Moonhead -> RE: Free Speech on "South Park"? (4/28/2010 2:26:10 PM)

John Wilkes. The British politician the assassin was named after, like many members of his generation, due to Wilke's support of independence for the American colonies. He was a mate of Thomas Paine and Ben Franklin.

That's going to be the idiots who issued the death threats' excuse as well, old boy. It's a very popular line with people who have a religious text where their brain should be, you'll find.

Everyone knows Booth but few here know of Wilkes or that he was actually a relative of Booth.
That the two were politically opposed is irony at it's best.

Fair enough. I find the fact that Americans aren't aware of the man's existence a bit depressing, then.

No, people could have died because there are psychopathic killers in the world who would have been willing to kill them.

I mean really, people can die from just about anything. Might as well ban expensive Nikes - people are willing to kill over those too.
