"Homeland Security official arrested in child sex sting"
http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/04/04/homeland.arrest/index.html?section=cnn_topstories

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A Department of Homeland Security official was arrested Tuesday night on charges of using his computer to seduce a child after he allegedly struck up sexually explicit conversations with a detective posing as a 14-year-old girl, authorities said.

...

Now why does this make me think of Catholic Priests? Oh yeah, I guess it's all of that stuff to do with fucking corrupt assholes in positions of authority...

I saw it as another sign of how low our Gov't & Politicians have taken us... I wonder if there's a bottom or if we're going to end up like all those other Empires that have Fallen before us???

So we have DHS molesting children, ATF burning children, and FBI shooting children. Good job because militias keep growing.

These people are all equal scum. No matter what job they hold they are preying on the under aged. These things take place more and more every day and the only good thing to come from it is the publicity and getting these creeps behind bars. It is no more abhorrent for a government official to do this than it is the handyman living down the street. It is equally vile. This is one reason that I log every one of my instant messages. If I get a random one and they identify themselves as a minor, I politely tell them that I am older and that I will not talk to a minor on the Internet. If they continue on I tell them that it is dangerous to talk to complete strangers out of the blue and I wish them a good evening and then I promptly block them. I record everything. If anything should happen, the record is right there on my computer.

It's hard to believe that someone with the supposed "smarts" to be in his type of position is still stupid enough to do what he did.  Does that much blood really rush out of the head and into the other???  Does he not listen to the news?  It's been widely publicized, (and he's a PRESS SECRETARY!!!), especially lately, that these types of 'sting' operations are actively going on.  Yet, Gauge is hanging out here in collarme, and this joker is Deputy Press Secretary of Homeland Security.  Something is so wrong with that.

What does his job have to do with anything, why can't he be a pedophile and totally qualified to do his job at Homeland Security as well?
This only prooves that the present US administration hires human beings, and when you do that you will sooner or later get all types.

Think of it this way, he got that job despite all the security clearances and his prediliction for kiddie-sex....he must know a thing or two about hiding stuff from the Gvt. not a bad thing ion somebody who's job is to track down the evil terrorists

Just another who thought... oh hell I am JOE BLOW... I won't get caught. And if I do, it'll be hushed quickly...

WRONG!!!!!!!

Unpaid leave.... bump that shit.. this asshole was busted red handed. Out on bail... should be under the damn jail house.. or better yet... in regular population... even  cons hate child predators.

Like gauge... I have my PC set up to record all IMs, and I also watch my e-mails closely.  I even have my kids IMs set up to save IMs. I tell them, someone IMs you that you do not know.. let me.. and I sit and watch them tell them they're minors and please stop IMing them. I went so far to have to actually call cops in Indiana on one gent who kept on with my oldest. Good thing too, he's a registered offender and they were able to find him again. He was MIA they stated nce he was located and found out who he really was.

Upon hearing about this guy this morning, it really pist me off to no end, to once again realize just how unsafe we are anywhere, with people we are normally suppose to trust. I am not niave to not know we're not... I just hate how often i'm reminded.

But like gauge said... they're everywhere.. just hiding behind titles that we normally do not suspect... and that included cops, judges, (I would say lawyers, but hell I don't trust them to begin with.. LOL)

Oh, you're supposed to laugh!  What I meant was, YOU have enough common sense to not strike up conversations with minors when they approach you, and block them if they continue, and document it.  While this guy, who is in a government position apparently thinks nothing can happen to HIM.

Terribly sorry if that was offensive.  It was not meant to be.

"why can't he be a pedophile and totally qualified to do his job at Homeland Security as well? "

apologies, but this isn't well thought out. Even though i am not american i can see a fallacy here. Paedophiles are known to organise in such a way that you don't want them near any form of security servie, it makes it too easy for them to cover their tracks.

Did all of you catch the part where he thought he was talking to a 14 year old with lymphoma?  That makes him super creeepy, going for the sick children.  ick  Anyway, this can serve as a reminder that pedophiles can be found in all walks of life.

It's one thing to be a pedophile.  It's another to not have the brains to KNOW that the FBI, which is kinda sorta distantly related to "Homeland Security" is conducting these kinds of sting operations for the very purpose of trapping the predators online.  I mean, I don't shoplift things because I know there are undercover security officers and eye-in-the-sky cameras watching.  Since I make a moderate attempt to keep up on current events, I'm aware that the FBI has been conducting child-predator sting operations on the internet for quite some time now.  This guy's a Deputy Press Secretary, so he can't possibly be unaware of this, yet he does it anyway.

I'm amazed at the fact that he threw all that caution to the wind.....classic case of "thinking with the wrong head?"

OK... Ummmm... I must have missed something. Maybe I am a bit thick today. I didn't make the quote that philosophy responded to.

Now I am starting to doubt my sanity... Did I miss something?

The word is entrapment.  It is illegal.  This is not a military state.  The authorities are guessing that he would be talking with someone else if not with them.  The reality, they created a situation that caused someone to do something illegal they may not have done if the situation had not been groomed by the authorities....entrapment.  If it quacks like a duck.........

It's not at all entrapment.

He solicited sex without inducement.

He constantly spent time in chat rooms for adult men seeking underage women.

He was constantly warned of her "age" and the fact it might get him in touble. (Yet he persisted in trying to talking her into sex.)

He was not induced into the behavior. He was not forced into the behavior. He himself initiated the behavior. It's not even CLOSE to a case of entrapment.

.

I am in this lifestyle, I support sexual freedom between consenting adults.

I however find pedofilia(s?) a form of sickness but should also be prosecuted on a legal level.

This man was sooooooo sick, but he did have the choice to get help, he did not even consider the consequences. They rarely do because they believe in their power over the innocent.

I would like to beat the phuck out of some people sometimes but I chose not to, not only because of the legal consequences but because of my morals and strength of character.

Lives of short people are permanetly effected by such individuals choices of behavior and sometimes damaged beyond repair of the psyche for life. Resulting in unimaginable ways in which victims try to deal with and survive the personal invasion.

I think it is an inspicable crime, to rob someone of their innocent sexuality and damage their engagement on a purely heathy natural level in adulthood.

And I think the statute of limitations on such crimes are phucken atrocious.

Sorry for any mis-spellings.
