Awww, this just took me back to my childhood. My father is a musician and he always had guitar picks in his pocket. I used to go looking for them and play with them.

I can still remember him asking my mom if she'd come across them in the washer, because he couldn't figure out where they were disappearing.

(Sorry for the ramble down memory lane...Back to our original programming...)

The dumbest thing I do is leave the lights on in the car and the battery goes dead. It's not a problem anymore though as Master hardly ever lets me drive

Having locked myself out of an earlier car too many times due to being preoccupies, I keep a spare key on a chain about my neck along with a spare handcuffs key and the spare key to my weapons vault. I've never mastered the arty of popping doos open with coat hanger wire or plastic strips.. Hot wiring is a breeze but you have to get iknto the beast first.... Stick in an emergency a brick or length of iron pipe is good... the worst I've done is to tahe the side window out with a shotgun blast.. (I was a tad rushed to get to a Code Red call out though and the car was a Goverenment one too... 'nough said

)

Yes, I can relate...

1. I was meeting a woman I had met on the internet for lunch.
We had a long lunch being interested in each other and enjoying the food and conversation.

When we decided to leave, I could not find my keys, which was pretty embarassing...So I went to my secret place in my purse which held the extra key.
My date insisted on walking while talking with me to my car.
As we approached my vehicle I realized I had not only locked my keys in The car, I had also left it running.....

Very, Very Embarrassed

I also have another story but it is even more embarassing and I think I will keep it to myself

i just remembered a worse one. i was babysitting my then 6 month old nephew, and had to make a run to the store. Well, i get my nephew downstairs and down to my little pickup, only to realize i had locked my keys in my car. i called the local police, who said "sorry, we don't do that anymore" and then i called one of my male friends. This "friend" said he could pop the door handle out and access the lock that way.
Well, long story short.......it didn't work quite the way he said it would. The lock ended up dropping out to the bottom of the door. He ended up having to tear apart most of the outside of my door to get to it. i had to get the whole door replaced.

The ladies at my insurance company remember this incident well (7 years ago!) and still tease me about it.

I do sympathize with what happened. No one can feel dumber than when you lock your keys in the car. It happened to me a few years ago and I figured out the perfect solution to the problem. I have one of those small leather(of course) key cases that contains spare vehicle keys and a spare house key. It lives in my pants pocket and only comes out to change pants or

if I need to use one of the keys.

Ah, yes. I was locked of the house out when I locked Myself out of the car that was running. I had a spare key, but it was in the house, and I didn't have a single faulty or unlocked window or door. I even attempted the fence so I could try squeezing into the doggie door, but, alas, I am too short, and I couldn't get over the damn thing. So I was SOL. More spares for the house were purchased at the same time the spare car keys were made. One went to a neighbor and others were strategically and safely placed!
For those improperly interested parties who may be reading, I no longer live there! *S*

I had AAA for a year. I used to lock my keys in my car ALL the time, until I had AAA, and then, for some reason, I didn't do it any more. I finally dropped them, and...my SON went to the car for tissue...and...yep...

I agree that AAA is the way to go. It costs less than one week-end visit from a locksmith.

Twice!

First time I was driving my dad's car and left my house keys on the table

, second time I was just having one of those brain dead moments and popped the button and shut the door a second before I remembered to grab my keys. The landlord had to hacksaw the window catch off and climb in the bathroom (the only room with an open window) to let me in. I did find out that it would have been extremely difficult to break into the place though

After that I hid a spare key under a rock by the back door!
