ORIGINAL: valeca Chaingang, with all due respect, I think you've missed the point. Not to mention that your quote does infact give credit to the author ;) --negating the legalities. You are misinformed about 'information not working that way anymore'. The internet falls under the copyright laws (if you pick up any book, you'll notice in the copyright 'electronic or mechanical means' is cited--that's the internet). Ignorance is not a defence either. Saying, "I didn't know" won't help you in a lawsuit. And yes, many publishers willl actively persue a lawsuit stemming from the internet. While I don't think fergus meant any harm, he'd still need to give a copyright notice...at the very least credit the author and/or sources. You might think CM is obscure enough to be safe, but it's not. Publishers hire people specifically for the purpose of internet theft--it's big money they're losing. It's theft, plain and simple....who wants 'theif' attached to their name? Master owns a publishing company. We deal with the legalities of contracts, copyright and publishing daily. It's a serious offense and has very serious penalties. Thank you for the interesting read, fergus. I hope you'll add the proper credit, and I hope the material really gives people something to think about. Have a good one, everyone! Thank you Valeca, I though I had, but apparently I did not ... to be sure, I am removing the material, several posts at a time. In the mean time, I encourage people to look into the Tao Te Ching, whether it be Stephen Mitchell's translation, or another. I am sure you can find Mr. Mitchell's version for under $10.00 at any Borders, or other translations on the web. fergus
