Thompson, its amazing that we can disagree civilly in this discussion but seem to piss each other off or at least aggravate each other in a certain other thread. Perhaps I'll just not talk to you about THOSE things.
I am surprised by the nod towards my home state. Most of the country still thinks we are a bunch of illiterate hillbillies.

You do raise valid points about property taxes and storage. I am already looking into these things as well. I think as long as we don't talk about our soldiers, we might see eye to eye on a few things.

We ain't disagreein' here homer we just sharing shit about stuff we know.

but seem to piss each other off or at least aggravate each other in a certain other thread.

You don't piss me off at all...hell I ain't even begun to swear at you in Spanish yet.

Perhaps I'll just not talk to you about THOSE things.

Hell I will talk about most anything...we can disagree without being disagraeble...of course I think that is what they call discussion

I am surprised by the nod towards my home state. Most of the country still thinks we are a bunch of illiterate hillbillies.

I was stationed at Memphis when the U.S. military escorted James Merideth into Ol' Miss. over the objections of gov.ross barnett. There was a small fire fight after which two locals went to the hospital and one to the morgue. After that the locals were more polite to us.
Liberty was of course in West Memphis where I learned first hand about the "illiterate hillbillies" you speak of... their hospitality, their praise of our actions, and of course the free chow and the hawt babes...I think there is something in the water.

Unless you find a "score" on some two volt deep cycle batteries(they are ungawdly pricy retail, but are good for up to thirty years )
Your best bet for storage are golf cart batteries but they are only good for about five years. You will get the most bang for your buck with them. Floor scrubber batteries are a little more expensive and work no better but have the advantage of being bigger (taller) so you can have more battery with smaller footprint.
Get a copy of a little book called "The Battery Book" I think Perez is the author. It will tell you shit about batteries that you thought you would never want to know.

I am already looking into these things as well. I think as long as we don't talk about our soldiers, we might see eye to eye on a few things.

Dont be a sissy

LOL.... when it comes to our soldiers, I get a bit agitated in their defense. Its one of the subjects that can make me reach a full boil instantly. I've listened to too many clowns run their mouths about shit they've only seen in video games and thinking that they're generalissimo. I may have served to defend their right to run their mouth but I also preserved my right to put a fist in it and await bail later.

I may have a copy of that book around here somewhere. I used to operate the battery shop at the national guard airfield where I began my military career... back before I signed on full time for desert storm. That was the first time I played with BIG batteries.

If by "big batteries" you mean the batteries they use on semis...The 8D and 4D batteries...they are just large car batteries and pretty much useless for a solar storage system. What you need are actual dedicated "deep cycle" batteries. A car battery with ink on them that says deep cycle is just that... ink.
The "deep cycle" batteries that are used in remote sites as back up power are usually 2 volt batteies and weigh from a hundred to about five hundred pounds each.
I try to keep up on new battery technology but still I have yet to find any of the new battery technologies to be anything more than stuff for the big boys to play with. Down here at the domestic user level the old fashioned stuff is what is being used.
I am using 24V at about 1000 amps (12, 2 volt 1000 amp deep cycle sealed gell cells) This powers three Trace 24/2500 inverters. The aray is about a thousand watts of pannels by various manufactures. The tracker is manual...when I am not home I just lock it in the straight up position.
I use a hydronic system for hot water and propane for refrigeration. Because the humidity here is so low I use evaporative cooling rather than A/C.
I built the system myself using used components when possible. I had about six thousand in the system when I found a deal last year on batteries. They had been purchased but never installed on a comercal project that went tits up so I scored a thirty year battery pack of over 6000 pounds for a little less than a dollar a pound...that is cheaper than golf cart batteries...Hopefully I will not have to buy more batteries for the rest of my life.

Has anyone addressed how using that much wind would change the worlds weather?

I have never seen that discussed, but it seems intuitively and decisively clear to me that the results could be disastrous.

All actions have unintended consequences.

Surface winds are an effect of weather they are nearly inconsequential in affecting weather patterns. The jet stream and other upper level airflows are where most of the energy is and we're not reaching anywhere near that high. Furthermore windmills absorb very little of the mechanical energy of the wind. A wind farm made up of well seperated turbines will have less effect on wind patterns than does an urban or suburban area. Compare the surface area of all of the turbines in even the biggest windfarm to the surface area of the Sears Tower.
