I would honestly be disgusted and turned off  every time I looked at someone if they had poor teeth that were severe.  I wouldn't be in a relationship with any one that disgusted me. That may make me shallow, but I can live with that.

I agree.  I don't need perfect teeth, but if they are completely FUBAR, that says something to me about them as a person, that they are unable to care for themselves, and thus, I don't want to be involved with them.  Friends, sure, if I like their personality, but not more than that.

My brothers x gf has a genetic condition which caused her teeth to rot completely out of her head, and she's only around her 20's her mom has the problem too, so it's not always a lack of being able to take care of oneself, but I still would find it gross.

I do have stained teeth, 1 cavity and 2 more spots that need fillings.  Friday, I am taking care of the cavity.

I do admit that I should of taken better care of my teeth, but it is hard for this old gal to learn new tricks.

My husband has a genetic condition that caused his teeth to rot away before he was 25.  When we met, they were rotten and brown, as if he'd been using crystal meth for years.  It didn't stop me from dating, falling in love, and marrying him.  The condition of his teeth didn't say one iota about his superior intellect, his wonderful sense of humor, or his loyalty to me and our family (never mind his skill in the bedroom!).  He's since had his teeth replaced by a full set of dentures, but all the things that make him the perfect man for me are still there, 8 years later.

And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind."

Drop them off at the dentist. If they can't control their plaque, then they probably can't control you.

I have hesitated in posting this. I will not mention names, but I cannot resist posting what happened! Someone I did not know read my post on this thread. They thought about what I had said and other things I had posted and then determined to contact me and convince me that they were not crazy! lol

I got an email offering to help me afford my new teeth. I refused for a number of reasons, but she just kept coming back and trying to prove that there was no motive, just a simple desire to help me. I was stunned, didn't know what to say or do and that doesn't happen too often. What was right, honorable, acceptable to me and did I actually want to even consider it?

Between this Angel, a talk with two people I respect around here and my daughter, I realized it wasn't just me that this concerned. My daughter was fearful of my health being worse because of my teeth and she was correct. The family was afraid I would get an infection I couldn't handle and have a heart attack or stroke. My Angel was as well. My daughter had watched me go from very active and out in the world working my causes and just playing in life, to a woman who stays at home most the time taking care of other people. I'd lost my smile that everyone knew me for. I was still smiling inside and still trying to share laughter and joy, it was just more home based. I'd be invited to things I refused to go to because I didn't want to be seen and wouldn't meet people who wanted to meet me. I didn't work any cause anymore because I didn't want to be seen in the media that could be a part of it all.

This Angel kept pushing and for a submissive person to push a total stranger, you know she believed in what she was doing. I had learned long ago from a mentor in the ministry that we shouldn't rob people of the joy of being a blessing. I investigated and dug and wanted to know my Angel's situation to be assured that it was okay for her to do this and wouldn't hurt her. She assured me with facts and by the end of her and my daughter's convincing; I was convinced.

I have been very blessed and all this Angel wants for it all is a picture of me with my new teeth! I got the money yesterday and the appointments will be made this coming week.

Thank you to my Angel! You have changed my life!
