Can anyone explain masochism and their interests in it? Specifcly, the psycological side and what about it has your interest? I understand that if a dominant wishes to give it the sub should recieve it. I understand it also comes into play in discipline and training. It can be erotic for some, and I can understand how it fits into submission in general. Im more concerened with the so called 'pain pigs', 'pain sluts', and whatever other variations people call themselves now of days that are into pain for the sake of recieving it. We are generally curious because we've ran across some peoples profiles that are only interested in having someone use, abuse, scar and basically beat the crap out of them. Can you explain your fetish, because it isnt one we share? We dont mean to condemn or offend anyone, but we are just generally curious.

You claim you are not maso... yet you spend a lot  of time in "P&R"

What's up with that?

I would call myself a masochist that doesn't need dominant skill to take me to the enjoyment of pain but then perhaps I am not a masochist because I enjoy conquering pain.
Needles and flesh hook suspension is an example of this. I prepare myself into an almost meditative state before either of these (a bit like those people that can have operations without anaesthetic or pain relief). I can get my head to a stage where I don't feel pain but what I do feel is a rush that's very psychedelic. Its like a lucid dream.

Steve has taken a flogger to my back but if its not hard it just hurts like hell and Ill hate every moment of it. Give me it full on and I'm off on my lucid dream. He hates that btw and so insists on going lighter.................ouch!

probably...but not me. I don't go into explanations, I just 'am'

I understand that if a dominant wishes to give it the sub should recieve it.

Only if that's the agreed dynamic. Many D/s relationships don't involve S&M.

I understand it also comes into play in discipline and training.

I don't do 'discipline and training'. I prefer adult conversation regarding likes, dislikes, rules, etc.

It can be erotic for some, and I can understand how it fits into submission in general.

OK

Im more concerened with the so called 'pain pigs', 'pain sluts', and whatever other variations people call themselves now of days that are into pain for the sake of recieving it.

Try 'masochist'. Or 'maso'. I'm not a slut or a pig, and I find it irritating, condescending and downright vulgar when someone calls me that.

We are generally curious because we've ran across some peoples profiles that are only interested in having someone use, abuse, scar and basically beat the crap out of them.

Maybe they're fantasists, maybe they're masochists - why don't you ask them?

Can you explain your fetish, because it isnt one we share?

If you don't share it, you must have reasons for that. Think of what turns you off about S&M, and then imagine what it would be like if your strong dislike were to turn to strong like. Then you'd be catching on.

We dont mean to condemn or offend anyone, but we are just generally curious.

Maybe you are, and it's good to ask. Just please remember there are people on the other end of your question who may find your rather clumsy questioning technique rather offensive, whether you mean it or not.

For some like myself, it is not the actual pain that we get off on...it is the sensations which pain produces that we seek. Pain is simply a medium in which I want to experience the chemical rush the body produces to counteract the feeling of pain produced by an intense paddling or a heavy flogging session. When that state is being reached, the body feels less of the pain as the mind is floating off into a state of being dislocated or zoned out...the senses are drawn inwards and time ceases to exist for that period. In some ways it can be likened to being another vehicle to experiencing an altered state of awareness.

The vast majority of these are those who live a fantasy life, read too much porn, and watch too much porn.  Because it looks hot in a movie they figure it'll be hot in real life.  It's like those who wish to be chained and caged 24/7.  It sounds sooooo hot to have someone control like that.  The reality is that it would be boring for the chainee and too much work for the chainer.  In other words, it sounds great for whanking but is really very boring.

I think there's a pretty scientific explanation for it, that being that stress-relief endorphins are typically released when pain is inflicted. The adrenaline and endorphin rush is extremely heady and a very pleasurable feeling.

The contrast of pain with simultaneous pleasure is also extremely erotic to me. Having the pain to contrast to the pleasurable feelings seems to only heighten/strengthen the feelings of pleasure.

I also think there is a huge mental component.. someone else mentioned going into a meditative like state when enduring intense pain.. I've had similar experiences and the pain simply because a catalyst FOR that trance-like feeling.

i would say i'm a pain slut but not just for anyone. i have it good right now. there's gotta be the right "click" between two people. that said, i think being hurt and used and lowered, well it does something delicious, it's an overstimulus of sensation. I hate it and I love it all at the same time. Because i fully trust the one dishing it out, its the only way i can allow myself to fulfill this dark deep desire. I liken it to the same reason many enjoy a haunted house. We like being scared shitless. It's a turn on. It is frightening to know the depths of what pleasures oneself, probably for the sadist too. It hurts, I like it, I like it alot, I like the sexual aspect involved in it, i also like how i find myself becoming a better person because of it. In regular life, i become more disciplined and in control of my emotions and setting goals. All in all, it's like a healthy form of crack. When you find it good with someone, it's hard not to keep wanting more.

I wouldn't say I'm a masochist, but I do like to be flogged, whipped, and generally gone over pretty good.  For me, it's showing how much pain I can take for my partner.  I like the pain to linger a few days, as a pleasant reminder.

I agree to a large extent.  Just wanted to comment that having the crap beaten out of you is not boring.  Believe me.

Pain / Pleasure continuum. People fall somewhere on it. The best thing I can describe for it - a really good hard core massage. It hurts like the devil, but you love it. Or... really rough sex that well, hurts like the devil, but you love it.

This!

It's not a coincidence that I've chosen a bunny as my avatar...

I can explain this much - for some of us, when the pain reaches a certain intensity it becomes something completely different which is beyond pain or pleasure. I'm certain it doesn't work that way for everyone, but for some there is a transcendence and it is really too yummy to fit into words. I'm thinking, though, that if you've not experienced it then all these explanations probably don't provide much clarity.

I would add - for me, once I've reached this level of intensity there is no pain for me, or at least to get me registering pain you would have to do something seriously nasty to get my brain to register pain again. But from the pleasure perspective, it's like my whole body is a massive pleasure centre - imagine a five feet four inch clitoris*...

As I come down from that high, I get a feeling of such tranquility and happiness that can last for hours.

Of course I can continue to come down and the positive turns to negative, but with plenty of cuddles and fluffy words that can be avoided

Holy shit – this a forum not an ebook store. I would answer all the questions but if I am going to type up a book, I might as well publish and make profit. Look, OP, you got to be kidding right? Pick one question, something you have a glimmer about and are looking for opinion or clarification. Otherwise, You need to go read a book or something.
