Why would you say that? I gave you a thoughtful, first-person response that directly answered your OP. And you didn't deign to answer me. I don't often let my personal out on these boards, but I did.

All you wanna do is argue with those you don't have a hope of agreeing with. You didn't want a response you might engage with honestly. Clearly.

So have fun with luckydawg, as you were.

What cat calling (what does that even mean?). If I said anything that is demonstrably untrue I will retreact it.

Well there is that little thing about Hugo Chavez still giving oil to poor people in amerika.
You called me a liar several times.
But yet I prove I am right and you are wrong again AS USUAL

If you were to tell me tomorrow that the sky was purple with pink polka dots, I could ask you if you dropped some acid, and if you said no, I could just shrug it off and figure your perception is different than mine. But I don't have to accept it as valid.

I didn't mean valid as you believe it's true or even agree with it but valid as it's their right..Is this thing on?

Ok, so you are upset with me because I didn't answer your post. I understand that. But be direct about it rather than call one of my attempts at humour bullshit, ok? Please. I really do prefer directness. And the point is, I like you.

I had a really hard time with your post to be honest and that is why I didn't respond to it. I have family that turned very, very religious, not immediate but close extended, and it got to a point where I felt that they were not respecting my boundaries anymore.

You seem to have another approach which is noble, and maybe you are a better person than me, but I couldn't do it.

But as I said, it was noble, so I didn't think that responding something about what you doing being a total hard limit for me would have been productive. I don't think it is even productive that I'm doing it now except that I won't give you a bullshit response for why I didn't answer your post.

Ok. Well we agree in principle but we disagree in how we define and use the word valid. How's that?

Except you have provided no evidence that program exists anymore. No evidence at all.

It ended in early 09.

And you are lying pretending the program still runs.

Just post an article about the current state of the program. Except you can't because it was cancelled 2 winters ago.

I'm not here to have people come around to my views. This isn't a contest, this is a discussion. I came here willing to have my views changed. Look at my OP:

Am I biased when I think that I see much more of this on the religious side than the secular side? I'm honestly asking as I might be.

I know some people think this is about me trying to prove a point.

No I don't think You are biased at all ... I posted my view on the first page ...

Yet not only here on the thread ... but in real life too ...

the issue a believer always grapples with ... is even ... how to present an intellectual case.

That is a known fact ....

So one has to get defensive ... there is no apparent "air cover" ....

No, honestly, I'm totally comfortable in admitting my bias. It is only those who think they are being objective who really are the furthest from being objective.

Acknowledging I have a bias helps others understand where I am coming from. When debating with open minded people who debate with integrity and civility, this can be quite helpful.

I do understand You have a bias ... we all do ... and I find it good to know the bias .. when entering a debate.

It is only fair ... in the spirit of debate ... that we admit them.

I agree You are biased ... AND You also .. know mine.

That said ...

I meant ... You do see this more on the religious side ...

I misspoke whan I said You are not biased ... I meant to Your question ... now three pages back ... LOL ... "Am I biased when ..."

Ah ok, I understand now. But I truly think I am and I have no issues with that.

InvisibleBlack has a fabulous post that was acknowledged only by few and it is making me rethink certain things. I was sort of already on that path here but he made it a lot more clear.

The thing is that the correlation is at the wrong place perhaps... I don't know. I need to reflect on this some more as I now have more questions than when I started, which is a good thing :-)
