Dubbelganger -> RE: We just had a new kind of weather! (5/2/2010 11:47:31 AM)

I live in Cobb County, which, along with Hall Co., has the most twisters in Georgia.
http://www.ajc.com/news/new-study-puts-metro-501023.html?cxntlid=sldr We're in the easternmost part of Dixie Alley, which has the most tornadoes in the US, on a seasonal basis.

Fortunately, we have a killer tornado siren alert system, and trained spotters throughout the county. The nearest siren is approx. 1.9 miles from me, and it is LOUD. I've been lucky so far, no trees down on my house, but a good friend in the same subdivision, about 1/2 mile from me as the crow flies, had a big old poplar take out part of her deck and did some roof damage.

I'm keeping my insurance 'cause it's just a matter of time.

I thought that even Colorado couldn't give me a new kind of weather.  I was wrong.

Wednesday night we had a dirty rain.  Instead of finding everything glorious and clean, everything was covered in fine mud.  I've never heard of that...

yanno...sometimes it can even rain starlings...[8|]

im amazed at how people respond so casually to the volcano ash covering our cars and possibly muddying our rain.

volcano ash in the lungs is not a good thing - politicians for a while denied that the ash was anywhere other than way up there in the sky, but theres a small thing called gravity - what goes up has to come down.

just saying...

What do you expect them to do about it? Volcanoes are an Act of God, take it up with Him.

I have a tendency to respond to all of the truly horrible things in life over which I have no control with humor. Sorry if this comes across as reacting casually.

[:)] - thanks -

im just faintly curious why no one is even talking about it and by no one, politicians, doctors, scientists, health authorities etc., .  volcanic ash is like tiny chards of glass, mixed with water it turns into a slush, presumably in our lungs it will cause coughing and some congestion.  ive noticed an increase in people complaining of feeling tired with a chesty cough.  might just be a bug of course -

the other week my car was covered in a grey dust.  i was told not to scrub it off  with a cloth because it would scratch the paintwork - i just cant help wondering what that stuff does to lung tissue and if this productive cough has anything to do with it. (shrug, just wondering really))

i know there isnt anything anyone can do about the dust, but personally i have put myself and tom on echinacea drops, its good for lung tissue.  sometimes i think we're not told things to avoid a panic, fair enough, but furnished with some info rather than a total wipeout on info regarding this is just wrong.
